Monday 15th October 2012 we had a 3 o'clock afternoon flight from JFK Airport at New York to fly to LA where we transferred to our Virgin Australia flight from LA to Sydney which left about 9 o'clock at night - arriving in Sydney at 6.00am on Wednesday 17th October - losing Tuesday the 16th October 2012 in time adjustment.
We were given an 11.00am Airport Shuttle transfer to the airport by our Globus tour group which was late picking us up from our hotel and then seemed to take forever to get us to the airport. We did not have a lot of time to check in but made it with no trouble with our luggage weight. The flight to LA was uneventful but the smaller plane was a little cramped for room. Luckily it was only 4 1/2 hours so it was an okay trip. We transferred to the Virgin Australia terminal by bus and our luggage was transferred straight through to Sydney.
Our flight home was about 15 hours and was very comfortable. I was quite happy with the Virgin Australia comfort and service. It was a night flight all the way so there was nothing to see even though we had window seats. We arrived in Sydney on schedule at 6.00am on Wednesday morning, collected our pre-ordered duty free goods and collected our bags with no hassles through security so that was all good.
We said farewell to Col & Lauren at the airport as they were staying on in Sydney for a couple of days. We caught the train from the Airport to Central and then transferred to a Central Coast train that fortunately had carriages that we could fit all our luggage in and we had a hassle free trip home.
We were home in time to unpack & restock the cupboards before the family arrived to welcome us home. They stayed for dinner and the kids had a lot of fun with their new presents from the USA. It was a good feeling to be home as we had been on the run for seven weeks and missed everyone. There is no place like home.
We were feeling okay at that time as the jet lag had not hit home.
