Monday 14th February 2011

This week was much cooler with a lot of showers to help the gardens recover from the last few weeks of extreme heat.
Wednesday 9th & Thursday 10th February I caught up with the gardens and house at home. It was nice to be able to work in cooler conditions. The roses were burnt off from all the heat so I have had a lot of dead heading to do. I did not get it all done so I still have a lot of garden work on my "to do" list.
Friday 11th February 2011 we were up early to get a trailer load of horse manure from the local stables to deliver it to the golf club for our garden compost heap. We worked all morning at the club, Peter fixing the watering system at the 18th garden and me tidying up the area at the 18th gardens. We also did some trimming, watering and treated the garden with seasol at the ladies 13th tee as it had suffered heat stress in the hot weather.
Saturday 12th February 2011 there was to be an 11 o'clock garden wedding. We had showers overnight and into the morning. I went over to the club and cleaned up the wedding garden and front of the clubhouse in preparation however they made a decision to have the wedding on the covered balcony upstairs which was a wise move as the showers continued. Today was Anne Stimpson's birthday so we went out to celebrate the occasion with dinner at the Sicilian Restaurant at Gosford. We had a nice evening with Mark & Anne.
Sunday 13th February 2011 Rod & Joel arrived at 7.00am for breakfast and stayed while Anne was at work. We had some fun with Joel who was in a very playful mood, until we left for golf at 10.30am. Our playing partners were Doug and Robin Incoll and we had a lovely day. It was rain free until the last four holes when we played in light showers back to the clubhouse. The rain was not all that heavy so we still enjoyed the day. We stayed for dinner with Mark and Anne Stimpson. The club surprised us with a presentation of a lovely trophy of appreciation, a voucher for me and a dozen bottles of wine for Peter in recognition of the volunteer work done at the club.
Monday 14th February 2011 (today) we were up early for a 7.00am start at F-Troop. It was showering at the time and we did not think we would get much done or expect too many volunteers to turn up. There were eight of us and we managed to do some under cover & out of the rain jobs until the showers stopped and then we went out on the course cleaning up until 1.30pm. It was a big day and we did achieve some good clean up tasks.

I am hoping the rain has settled for a while as I am not looking forward to playing golf in the rain tomorrow.
