We arrived at Byron Bay (hereinafter referred to as "The Bay) after an easy drive from Megan near Dorrigo. The weather here has been magnificent every day. A few small showers here and there but very short lived so we have been able to go to the beach every day.
We understand that if you are a local in these areas then Byron Bay is referred to as "The Bay", Brunswick Heads is "Bruns" and Mulumbimby is referred to as "Mulum" . As we have been regular visitors we are now fitting in with the local scene.
Our first week was full of activity - beach, lunches, dinners at restaurants, home cooked dinners at Cabin 10 which was the hub of the social life for our group. George & Tosca had their caravan just across the road from us, John and Vickie were a little further down in their van and Dudley and Charlotte had there caravan in the block behind the cabins so we were very handy to each other.
The boys have done a lot of fishing and have had some success with whiting.
Australia Day we had an Australiana menu with meat pies, mushy peas, mashed potato and tomato sauce together with lamingtons, mango daquaries, strawberry milk shakes, cornettos, crumbed whiting fillets compliments of our fishermen and beautifully cooked by George.
The girls had a day on the Gold Coast - checking out the outlet shops towards Runnaway Bay and stopped at Burleigh Heads Hotel for a drink on the way home. We got some good bargains and had a very enjoyable day.
Vickie is having her 60th birthday next month so we decided that a birthday celebration was necessary as we were not seeing her on the day. We had a lovely dinner at the Byron Bay Hotel Italian Restaurant.
Vickie's friends Maxanne and Dennis joined us for lunch on Saturday 29th at cabin 10 which was a good day.
Vickie & John and Dudley & Charlottle went home on Sunday as they were only staying for one week. We have really enjoyed their company and the week certainly went quickly.
My thanks to Dudley and Charlotte for their contributions of photos for the blog.
