This week has gone so quickly it was like a blur. Trying to remember what I had done during the week that was worth mentioning was difficult - luckily I take many photos to jog my memory.
Tuesday 22nd February 2011 I played golf and did not get wet. That was a bonus. My playing partners were Rosemary Cohen & Lea Southon & we had a lovely day even though our scores were not great. I had 22 points on the front nine before the wheels fell off. I won nearest the pin on the 8th and won two balls on the day so that was a highlight.
Wednesday 23rd February 2011 I put in a full day's work on the golf club gardens - starting at 9 o'clock and finishing at 5.00 pm.
Thursday 24th February 2011 I had lunch at "The Cove" Restaurant at Terrigal with the rest of the " 3 putt club". We put in 50 cents for every 3 putt we have during the competition year & that usually finances a lunch out at the end of the year. This year Rosemary Cohen, Jan Fitzgerald, Bev Adams, Carol Farrell & Norma Presdee were there & we had a lovely long lunch overlooking beautiful Terrigal on a perfect day. I did manage to find some time for the mandatory shopping for 50% off specials at the retail shops.
Friday 25th February 2011 we went to the movies at Erina to see "The Way Out" a film set in Poland in the last world war. It is the story of how three escapees from the Russian prisons in Siberia trekked 4,000 miles to escape to freedom. After a nice lunch at Erina & some retail shopping we called into Aldi at Gosford to pick up some children's bedroom mats & linen for Joel's new bedroom for when he moves from his cot to a "Big Boy's Bed" (to make room for the new baby to use the cot.
Saturday 26th February 2011 we had a quick trip to Bunnings to purchase all that I need to give my roses a kick along for their March/April flush. Then the household shopping and a coffee at West Gosford before Peter left for golf. I spent the day out in the front gardens treating each rose individually with a trim, fertilizer, Seasol & remulch. I did not finish until 6.20 pm so it was a huge day and I only got part of the front done. It was a very hot day so I could only work at a slow pace.
Sunday 27th February 2011 I was up early to transplant some seedling plants into the back gardens & to water the potted plants. Anne & Joel called in for breakfast on their way to a birthday party. Rod was a little the worse for wear having been to a "buck's night" & did not make breakfast. Joel was in his best party gear & could not get dirty so I took him for a walk in the stroller to the railway to see the trains. The trains were not running but he was very impressed with the big buses that were collecting the travellers from the railway. We went to golf at 11.00 am & were lucky enough to get an almost rain free day. The rain was only light and it was a bit of relief from the humidity out on the course. Our playing partners were Graham & Rae Brown who gave us some great highlights during the day. On our first nine we were looking okay but again the wheels fell off in the last 9. The boys narrowly beat the girls for the keno ticket which hurt. We stayed for dinner at the Club with Lorraine Bignall, Cyril & Shirley Daly and Mark & Anne Stimpson. We had a good day & enjoyed everyone's company.
Monday 28th February 2011 (today) I was up at 5.30 am to organise myself for F-Troop at 7.00 am and also to prepare to go to golf at 11.00am for a 12.00pm shotgun start at Everglades Golf Club. I worked with F-Troop until 9.30am - rushed home and changed into my golf gear, rushed back for F-Troop morning tea, rushed back to collect my golf gear & arrived at Everglades at 11.30am. My playing partners were Fay Bailey, Wendy Stapleton & Faye Levenspiel & we were playing a team game in the District Ladies Open Day that was being held at Everglades Country Club. My golf was very erratic to start with & then I settled down a bit & managed to get a few important 3 pointers for the team. It is always good to contribute to the team score even if the overall personal score is not too good. I stayed for Presentation & enjoyed every one's company arriving home about 6.00pm. We started the day with very hot sunny weather. During the day it cooled with some cloud cover & a nice breeze. We started on the 7th hole and finished on the 6th hole which meant a long walk back in to the clubhouse. We did not get any rain until we holed our last ball. Then the thunder & lightning started which was very scary when we had such a big walk back in. We only needed another 15 minutes and we would have been high & dry.
The rain was good for the garden anyway & hopefully we will be past all the humidity soon.
I am hoping for a clear day for tomorrow's golf where I have an 8.30 am start.
