Friday 18th July 2008 - Mermaid Beach

We were up early so that we could pack our gear & check out of the resort in time to fit in another 18 holes of golf before leaving for our 2 o'clock appointment with the Real Estate Agent who is managing the rental of Mum's house at Burleigh Heads. We managed to get the appointment put back half an hour which let us get our golf finished. We had a nice game even though the course was still very wet. We managed to fit in a quick drink with Mark & Anne but had to leave before the others came in.

It was a mad rush to get ouselves through the Gold Coast traffic which was really bad on Friday afternoon. We ended up being 15 minutes late & the agent was very good about it. The house inside was in good order but the gardens were very unkept. I arranged with the agent & the tenants to come back the next day to tidy up a bit in the front gardens. We took a quick trip to Bunnings to check out what plants I could use for a quick fix. Then we drove to Mermaid Beach where we had booked an apartment for two days. It was in a good position & suited our purpose very well. It had its own laundry & full kitchen as well as a balcony. I was able to get all our washing up to date so we could bring home clean clothes.

We went to the Mermaid Beach Surf Club for dinner which was walking distance away. There was a little shop on the main road that we could walk to for milk, bread etc so that was handy. I didn't get to walk the beach as it was a bit late by the time we had settled.
