Wednesday 9th October 2013

This week has mainly been about gardening.  I have had a holiday from golf for a bit so that I can catch up with everything else that I need to do.

Thursday 3rd October 2013 we were over at the Golf Club at 8 o'clock to pick up Trevor and the ute so that we could go out to Matcham to pick up some advanced Agavi plants that have been donated to the Golf Club.  We picked up two big loads of plants and took them back to the 14th tee garden area for storage until we prepare the area for the plants.  In the afternoon we had a huge storm with thunder and hail.  Most of the golfers got inside before the hail.  (photo attached)

Friday 4th October 2013 we did some shopping at Aldi (a wheelbarrow and garden tools for Joel and Emily among other things)  and did the household shopping as well as trips to the Golf Club to collect some more plants that have been donated to the club.  That evening we went to the Golf Club for dinner and the raffles.  We won two legs of lamb in the first few draws and then won another two trays which we donated back as we thought we had done very well.

Saturday 5th October 2013 I was up early to cut some roses.  The roses have been growing beautifully and are a great show at the moment. We went to Aldi to get some of the Saturday specials and to Woolworths for some things that I had forgotten yesterday.  After that I went to the Golf Club to tidy up for an afternoon garden wedding.  Anne & Rod dropped Joel and Emily around home about 3 o'clock for a sleepover.  Rod and Anne were going out for a well deserved dinner together and a good sleep in on Sunday morning.  We had Joel & Emily for the night and they settled very well.

Sunday 6th October 2013 we took Joel and Emily on the train to Woy Woy to keep them amused for the morning.  They were well behaved and loved the train trip which was just long enough that they did not get bored.  I had not thought of the school holidays or the Grand Final of the football when I thought of catching the train.  It was packed to the rafters on the way to Woy Woy and we could just squeeze in the doorway.  Luckily it was a fast train with first stop Woy Woy.  Joel talked flat out all the way and I think the other passengers were happy to see us get off at Woy Woy.  We walked around to the waterfront to the playground at Fisherman's wharf where we had a picnic lunch and the kids could play right next to us.  We had a lovely day and caught the train back at 1 o'clock.  There was hardly anybody on the train going back so we had plenty of room for the kids to sit and look out.  Rod & Anne went out for lunch and did some shopping before calling around to pick Joel and Emily up.  They were both tuckered out and so were we. It was all I could do to stay awake long enough to see the football grand final.

Monday 7th October 2013 we were up early for F-Troop.  Even though it was a long weekend we still had a good number of volunteers so we got some good work done - getting the area ready for the donated plants that we received.  We left F-Troop after morning tea so we could get down to the waterfront at Gosford to celebrate Anne's Birthday. It was a nice day & the waterfront is a lovely place with a playground for the kids.

Tuesday 8th October 2013 I did not play golf as it was the Championships that are on Tuesday and Thursday for the next two weeks,  I have got so much to do in the gardens in the way of weeding and mulching that I decided that something had to go.  I have put out seven bags of mulch and have just about finished the front gardens.  At lunch time I went over to the golf club for presentation so I could get some photos of the winners.

Wednesday 9th October 2013 we went to Aldi for s shoe cupboard that I want to use for our golf shoes. I spent most of the day in the front garden weeding, mulching and watering.  The weather is turning hot so I am happy that I have made some headway with the mulching. Tomorrow the forecast is for 39 degrees so I am happy that I did not commit myself to the championships.  I can feel a cold coming on - sore throat & sneezing.  Not happy Jan as I have a busy weekend coming up.
