It was a relatively quiet week with both the boys away in Bali, Anne and children on holidays in Queensland and no golf because Peter was playing in the Championships.  It took advantage of all this to get some good gardening work done.

Thursday 24th October 2013 I worked in the front gardens trimming the hedges, weeding etc.

Friday 25th October 2013 we did some household shopping and went to Bunnings for more petunias for the back gardens.  I started on the back gardens.  That evening we went to the Club for dinner and the raffles and we won two meat trays and a bistro voucher so that was a bonus.  There were some bad bush fires that day and the sun was blood red at sunset (photo attached)

Saturday 26th October 2013 I went over to the Golf Club to clean up for today's wedding and worked there until 2 o'clock.  Anne bought Joel and Emily around for a visit after their holidays in Queensland.  They stayed for baths and dinner.  The kids had a great time in Queensland and Anne looked good for her break.
We have been very excited about the news of a new Grandchild due next April - a brother or sister for Joel and Emily.

Sunday 27th October 2013 Peter played in the final round of the Championships so I had a day off of golf to work in the back gardens.  That afternoon I went over to the club to take photos of the winners of the Championship and then we went to dinner at Mark & Anne's place.  Mark & Anne have a sensational view over Gosford Water from their balcony and I got some nice photos of the sunset.

Monday 28th October 2013 We were up early for F-Troop as we had a lot of work to do.  We worked until morning tea as it was a very hot day but still managed to get some good work done. In the afternoon I spent some time working out how to download my photos from the iPad as the computer was having some technical problems.  It took me all afternoon but eventually I found a way to do it and got the blogs up to date. Thank heavens I have a laptop as a back up.

Tuesday 29th October 2013 I did not play golf.  Instead I worked all day in the back gardens  We went to Bunnings and I bought 3 new roses and just got them planted in when a big electrical storm hit.  We got some good rain which was great for the garden.

Wednesday 30th October 2013 (today) I went into Gosford for a few things and just got home before Shane & Rod arrived back home from their 10 day holiday in Bali.  They looked a little worse for wear but said they had a good time.  They bought me home some DVDs so I watched one of them and then went out in the back garden again.  That night Shane helped me to sort out the computer problems and all is well again.

Wednesday 23rd October 2013

This was a busy week with a lot of very hot weather.  We could certainly use some nice steady rain.

Thursday 17th October 2013 was the last day of the Ladies Championships.  I decided that I would play at the end of the field as I was not playing in the Championships and I played with Jann Henebury & Lauren Matterson.  It was an awful day - hot & windy and my chest infection was not improving.  Thank heavens for the golf cart otherwise I would not have made it around.  My golf was not good but I did not loose a shot on my handicap.  That evening Rod, Anne, Joel & Emily came over for dinner as a celebration night for their holidays.  Shane & Rod were flying out to Bali on Saturday morning and Anne, Joel & Emily were off to Queensland for a week's holiday with her family.

Friday 18th October 2013 we went to Wamberal to pick up some more donated succulent plants and dropped them off at the Golf Club.  We planted in a couple of the larger plants and then I worked in the Wedding Garden getting it ready for today's wedding.  That evening we went to the Golf Club for dinner and the raffles.  We won a Bistro Dinner Voucher which was a bonus.  My chest infection was getting worse rather than better which was a nuisance.

Saturday 19th October 2013 we went to Bunnings so I could pick up some mulch for the wedding garden and also some more petunias and roses for my garden at home.  I also got a couple of Magnolia Trees for the Golf Club from Aldi.  Peter was playing in the golf championships and I spent some time over at the Wedding Garden getting it ready for today's Wedding.  There have been three weddings at the club this weekend - so busy, busy.

Sunday 20th October 2013 I got up early to plant in the new petunias and roses and gave the gardens a good water before we left for golf to play in the President Vs Captains Day.  The Presidents side wore blue shirts and the Captains side wore red shirts.  Peter played with the Lady Vice President so I played with Bert Brink, Annie Brink & Wally Robertson in an American Foursome.  We had a lot of fun - especially when we put each other in bad positions (see photos attached).  Bert & I played well enough to win a ball and we won for the Presidents Side.   After Golf we had dinner at the Club as the Bistro was open that night.

Monday 21st October 2013 we were up early for F-Troop with a lot of work to be done.  It was a hot day so we finished up after morning tea.  I was not feeling well at all with my chest infection deteriorating.  I made an appointment to see the Doctor so I can get some anti biotic. I could not get in until Wednesday so I will have to suffer out the next few days.

Tuesday 22nd October 2013 was Veterans Day at Golf and I played with Val Anderson.  It was a very hot day and I was regretting the decision to go ahead an play.  I was going to pull out but it would have left Val without a partner.  As it turned out we had a good day with Val playing very well and coming in Runner Up with 40 points.  I won $20 in the 100 club and also won the raffle - bottle of red wine and a $15 voucher so that was a bonus.  I was really feeling poorly by the time I got home and had an early night.

Wednesday 23rd October 2013 (today) I was up at 4.00am with a coughing fit so decided to stay up and do the ironing as I could not sleep.  I have been very sleep deprived this week and I am hanging out to get some anti biotic from the Doctor.  I gave the gardens a good deep water as we were in for another stinker of a day and then tried to have a rest until it was time for my appointment. I was lucky and got in to see the Doctor without  long wait at the surgery and he agreed that I needed something to kill off the infection.  My blood pressure was high but he felt that was because I was unwell.   I have now got my anti biotic so I am hopeful of a quick recovery.  The family will soon be home from their holidays so I will need to be back in fit condition for my little ones.

I am hoping that we will get some rain soon and some cooler weather.  I have been pouring water into the gardens everyday just to keep them going.  The roses are lovely this year.  When I can find some energy next week I will be able to finish off the back gardens ( three bags of mulch to go) and the gardens will be prepared for the hot summer months.

Peter, Clyde & Lyn - Golf Sunday

The gardening has continued and the rewards are on show in the garden.  We have had a mixture of weather but very little rain.

Thursday 10th October 2013 it was a very hot 39 degree day with high winds in the afternoon.  I did not play in the Golf Championships this year so I spent the day mulching the front gardens and started on the back gardens. Peter put the Aldi Shoe cupboard together and it fitted all my golf shoes perfectly.

Friday 11th October 2013 we did the household shopping and then I was back in the gardens to get the mulch down before the summer heat sets in.  Friday night we went to the Golf Club for dinner and raffles.  We won a leg of lamb with vegies and a tray of steak which was a good bonus.

Saturday 12th October 2013 I was up early to cut some roses to give to Rosalie at her birthday luncheon.  Then I went over to the golf club to tidy up for the afternoon garden wedding.  I was back home by 10 o'clock to get ready to go to Wamberal Surf Club for Rosalie's 70th birthday luncheon.  Lauren picked me up along with Rhonda & we joined Rosalie's family and friends at Wamberal for a lovely lunch overlooking the beach.  After lunch I was in cooking mode preparing a Mum's Lamb Roast as Mark & Anne were coming for dinner. We had a good night playing cards after dinner until midnight.  By the time I got the Golfers blog updated it was 12.30.

Sunday 13th October 2013 I was up early so that I could give the gardens a good water before Rod, Anne, Joel & Emily arrived for breakfast.  Rod & Anne had some shopping to do so I took Joel & Emily to the railway station to have a look at the trains and to buy them an iceblock.  We left for golf about 11.30 as we had a late start.  It was a hot, windy day - not so good for golf but at least we had the cart to make it easier. We had a lovely day with Clyde & Lyn Cruickshanks who were our playing partners.  Clyde was our champion player with 40 points and I got a respectable 38 points and won a ball.  After golf we all went to the Gosford Hotel for dinner.

Monday 14th October 2013 We were up early for F-Troop with a busy day ahead of us.  I spent the day planting in the Agavi plants that were donated to the club.

Tuesday 15th October 2013 I was up early to get the back gardens mulched and worked until lunch time when I went over to the club for presentation so I could take photos of the winners.  Anne & Emily went to Sydney to see "Dora" and left the car at our place as they were catching the train.  Anne and Emily returned after a good day in Sydney and picked the car up.

Wednesday 16th October 2013 (today) I was up early again to work in the back gardens weeding, mulching, trimming, planting in some petunias for Christmas colour. The gardens are looking lovely with all the extra TLC and it is good to see all the colours brightening up the garden.  I filled up two green bins this week with still more trimming to do next week after I have the bins emptied.

Tomorrow is the last day of the Ladies Championships so I am playing golf tomorrow at the end of the field as I wanted to be over there for Presentation anyway.  I am playing golf with Lauren & Jann so we should have a good day.
