Sunday 25th April 2010

This week was basically a recovery week catching up with my neglected gardens at home & getting projects on the move at the golf club.
Monday 19th April 2010 was F-Troop day which finished up being a huge day working on the garden at the 1st tee that I am rejuvenating and cleaning up around that area. We had great difficulty removing two (what I thought were small tree roots) tree roots from the garden which ended up taking four strong men and a tractor to remove. It was a big day of work but worthwhile.
Tuesday 20th April 2010 I played golf with Kay Adams & Helen Stuart. They were great company and although we did not finish with great scores we had a good day. The greens had just been through a maintenance program and were a bit rough and ready. That is my excuse anyway.
Wednesday 21st April 2010 I spent the whole day in my gardens at home which had turned into a jungle while I was away. I managed to dead head some of the roses & get a few of the garden beds free of weeds and watered.
Thursday 22nd April 2010 we had another big day at the Golf Club where the F-Troopers were delivering timber which raises money for F-Troop. While they were busy with that I trimmed up the hedge at the front of the club that somebody had fallen through & generally tidied up the front gardens and entry to the club.
Friday 23rd April 2010 I was up early to cut a bunch of roses for Sally (one of the staff of the Golf Club) who had a bad day on Thursday. We had some shopping to do & business to take care of which took us till about 11 o'clock. Then we spent some time at the Golf Club doing some administration mail outs which took a few hours. When I got home from that I did some more work on the front gardens at home. I cut another bunch of roses for Louise Stimpson for her birthday & took them over to the club when I went over to do some watering of the gardens as the weather had been so hot.
Saturday 24th April 2010 I was up early to do a little more gardening before going grocery shopping. At 10.30 we went to see Joel doing his swimming lessons and said hello to Anne & Joel. After that we went shopping for Joel's first birthday present at Toys-R-Us. I have never seen so many toys in one place in my life. Obviously it is smitten grandparents like us that keep these shops afloat. After that I was back into the front gardens again, weeding, spraying and watering.
Sunday 25th April 2010 started off as a very wet and dreary day having had some steady rain overnight. Our golf partners rang & wanted to cancel out as at that time it did not look like clearing. Rather than waste the day I decided to go over to the club and clean down the steps from a wedding the previous day where there had been rose petals scattered on either side of the front steps. With the overnight rain the rose petals had scattered all over the steps and were an accident waiting to happen & needed to be cleaned up before any disaster occurred. The weather cleared up to not a bad day so we could have played golf. It was too late by then so I cleaned up under the clubhouse & went home to have a rest. Tammy & Trent have been staying at Diamond Beach & were on their way back to Canberra & managed to catch us at home before we went back to the Golf Club for dinner and to get the results report for the golfers blog. We got to meet little Noah - Trent & Tammy's newest son. Bailey is nearly 8 years old and growing up fast. It was good to be able to catch up with them. We had dinner at the golf Club with Mark & Anne Stimpson & met up with Margaret & Paul Ingham who we haven't seen for a while. We had a good social night with them & the other golfers who had stayed for dinner.
It had been a good catch up week & the rain has been good for the gardens.
