There is not much to report from golfing this last week as it rained just about every day leading up to Easter. So far over the Easter holidays we have had two days of sunshine so that has been a bonus.
Tuesday 30th March 2010 golf was abandoned due to heavy rain overnight. I had already decided I was not going to play golf as I am just recovering from two weeks of a chest cold and I did not want to freshen it up by playing in the rain. As it drizzled for most of the day I decided the best thing to do was to check out some of the local nurseries for some suitable plants for the golf garden we are refreshing. The Wyee nursery was a good exercise as they have a good display of plants and were very helpful with their advice. There were some nice plants at Ourimbah also so I came home with an extended list of plants to consider when designing the new garden which I will probably get into when we get back from Victoria in a couple of weeks.
Wednesday 31st March 2010 I was booked in to babysit Joel from 6.30am in the morning until 4.00pm in the afternoon. It was pitch black and pouring rain when I left home. Thankfully the day improved a little but it was still too uncomfortable to take Joel outside. Rod was home for some of the day also so we had a nice lunch together. Joel was very well behaved & had three sleeps through the day & played happily with his toys or had lots of cuddles & book reading with me. He is crawling very well, pulling himself up on the furniture & can move along if he has a good hold on. His sense of balance on his feet is not good yet but he is quiet strong.
Thursday 1st April 2010 was a better weather day. I did not play golf but some of the girls did & found it hard going. I caught up with the washing & house tidy. I went to Gosford to do a little bit of shopping & to pick up a new book I want to read over Easter - "So much for that" by Lionel Shriver. I shouted myself lunch at the Frangipani Coffee shop & picked up some "Easter Cup Cakes" in lieu of chocolates, as Easter gifts for the kids, before going over to the club to pick up today's results slip, have dinner & stay for the raffles and Member's draw. Tonight was a draw for $3,000 for a members that was present in the club. We did have a lucky member - unfortunately it was not me. However I did win a meat tray which was a bonus. The Honour Boards for the B & C Grade Ladies Championships were put up this week (previously was in the Ladies Associates Room downstairs). Yours truly is on there for B Grade 2007 amazingly enough. Shane & Sam joined us for dinner at the club to have a catch up as we had not seen them for a couple of weeks.
Friday 2nd April 2010 (Good Friday) was a lovely weather day. It was one of Greg's Anniversary days (it would have been his 41st birthday) so it is usually a quiet reflective day for me. I was up early to pick some flowers including a vase of flowers for Carolyn Morris who was our hostess today for lunch. Garry & Carolyn have a lovely home on the waterfront near Terrigal and we had a reunion of the group that went to Byron Bay for holidays in January.
Rod had borrowed my golf buggy yesterday to play golf in a council golf day at Terrigal so he was around at breakfast time to return the buggy. Shane was there at the same time as he had come to borrow the Hyundai for a couple of days.
We had a lovely day at Garry & Carolyn's enjoying prawns, oysters, chicken & salad lunch followed by some nice slices and an Easter Egg hunt. It was good to catch up with Carolyn & Garry, George & Tosca, Trevor & Margaret, John & Vicki, Glennis & Bob, Dot & Jim and Evelyn & Brian. I settled myself on the veranda lounge in the late afternoon & soaked up the sun. It was not too hard to take with that lovely view & good company. On the way home we called into the club to pick up the results slip so I could update the Golfer's Blog & I was happy to settle for an early night after all of that.
Saturday 3rd April 2010 (today) I was slow to start the day. Being Easter the roads were very busy so I visited the Narara Nursery to do some more plant research, had a wander through Aldi's - then got as far as the entry road to the supermarket at West Gosford & found it choked with traffic & cars milling around for parks. It all got too hard so I gave up & came home & will try again later today when hopefully everyone has gone home. Easter is always a good time to be off the road so I only intend to venture out for a game of golf on Sunday & maybe get into that new book that I purchased especially for the weekend. Joel & Rod are coming for breakfast tomorrow as Anne is working so that will keep me amused before golf.
