Another busy week has flown by. We have had very hot weather and not a whole lot of rain. There have been a lot of storms threatening but they seem to pass by Gosford.
Monday 7th March 2011 after I had finished the blog last week we decided to buy some matting for the golf club cart out at Clarks Rubber at Erina. We purchased the required amount of rubber matting & called into Duncan & Rosalie Dyer's so that we could get the mat cut to size from their pattern that they used for their cart. That of course turned into a bit of a social moment with the boys cutting the mat over a beer & Rosalie & I having a wine upstairs. Fortunately the mat fitted perfectly when I put it in the cart at golf on Tuesday.
Tuesday 8th March 2011 I played golf with Lynda Hartley and Yvonne Cumming & we had a very enjoyable day. I shared the cart with Lynda as she had a bad back & would have trouble walking. I won nearest the pin at the 8th hole which was a highlight for my day.
Wednesday 9th March 2011 I spent the day at home in the garden and catching up with washing & household matters. Martin Gallagher dropped around some plant cuttings which I am going to try to strike.
Thursday 10th March 2011 we went shopping early in preparation for dinner guests tonight. I was cooking up a Mum's Lamb & Chicken Roast & all the trimmings. There are eight of us heading to Perth next week for a golf/touring holiday so we needed to get together for the last minute planning. David (our travel agent) dropped around the travel tickets during the afternoon so we were able to read through them & make sure we were all happy. Mark & Anne Stimpson are sharing a car & the holiday with us and Col & Lauren Matterson are sharing a car & the golf holiday with Col Kelly and Alice Diamond. We had a great night and talked on until the early hours of the morning. I will be reporting more on the holiday as we move through it.
Friday 11th March 2011 we spent a good part of the day at the Golf Club tidying up for a garden wedding being held at 4 o'clock that afternoon. It was a hot morning but that changed to rain as the afternoon went on. The wedding was finished in time for any serious rain to interfere with the wedding ceremony or the golf.
Saturday 12th March was our 45th wedding anniversary so we went out to Terrigal for lunch which was a lovely place to be on such a nice day. Prior to lunch we called into the club to make sure everything was okay for the garden wedding this afternoon. We had lunch at the "Reef" restaurant at the Haven at Terrigal and it was really lovely. We had a table overlooking the haven which went well with lunch & champagne. After lunch we went back to the golf club to check on the proceedings for the two weddings that were being held there today.
Sunday 13th March 2011 Rod & Joel came for breakfast & Anne came along later in the morning. I took Joel for a walk to the Gosford Railway to see the cars & trains & he just loved it. We left for golf about 11 o'clock. Our playing partners were Robbie & Robin Brann & we had a top day. We played a "Las Vegas" Ambrose & ended up coming in Runners Up which was a good highlight. We stayed for dinner at the club with a group of the golfers which made it a good social day.
Monday 14th March 2011 (today) was F-Troop day starting at 7.00am. We had thirteen volunteers today which helped a lot & we got some good work done, finishing about 1.30pm. The ongoing hot weather is taking it's toll on some of the gardens so I am hoping for rain this week except for tomorrow (my golf day).
Graham sent me an email from France where he and Anne are currently holidaying. I have attached a photo that he sent taken of Anne in the ski slopes of the French Alps.
