Wednesday 8th December 2010

I have been so busy this last week or so I have not had time to update my blog for the week so I have now slipped over to Wednesday for my reports.

Tuesday 30th November 2010 the weather was showery as predicted which was disappointing for our Christmas Closing Day at golf. We did all play in the rain but not in our Christmas Gear as planned. I am not a wet weather golfer & could have easily settled for coffee on the veranda. Being a team game the show must go on. I had a good fun day with my playing partners Lorraine Bignall, Yvonne Wilson & Shirley Daly. They carried me all day in the team match but I did manage to contribute one 3 pointer at a one score to count hole & our team won a ball each.

After golf we had a special luncheon for closing day & some of us changed into our Christmas outfits. Once again this year we were the Christmas Fairies and were definitely the best

dressed (unfortunately no prize for that).

Wednesday 1st December 2010 it had poured rain all night & through most of the morning. The Men's golf was cancelled the rain had been so heavy. I had a recovery day at home which I needed after such a big day yesterday. In the afternoon when the weather cleared I did some dead heading of the roses.

Thursday 2nd December 2010 I spent some time at the golf club staking up the olive trees, giving them a bit of a weed & trim. Thursday evening I went to the RSL Club with Mark & Anne Stimpson and their daughter Louise. Louise is part of a theatre group for post school disabled and they perform a show every year at the Laycock Theatre. Tonight they were holding their "Molly Awards" which recognised their talent. I went along to take some photos for Louise. We had dinner at the club before the presentation of the awards.

Friday 3rd December 2010 we did the household shopping, checked out Bunnings etc. In the afternoon I did some more gardening at home as the weeds are growing so fast with all the rain we have had.

Saturday 4th December 2010 Peter was playing golf so I decided to go over to the club & clean up the gardens on the 2nd. I had left home early to beat the heat. While I was there Peter rang to say that Ken Gardiner had called in & wanted to take me to lunch for a catch up. A quick shower later Ken & I were on our way out for lunch - first trying Iguana's to find that it had closed. We then went out to what we thought was "Brandos" which was not closed but had changed it's name. We had a nice lunch & a good chat. I got to talk to Carolyn & Margaret on the telephone so it was good to catch up with them also. Ken said that he was going to call in on Odette on Sunday so I told him to call around in the morning to pick up some roses from my garden.

Saturday night we had a big night at the Pordello Restaurant at Bateau Bay meeting up with the old Townies Footie Group for our annual Christmas Dinner. We had 26 of us this year which was good. A full report was on the previous posting.

Sunday 5th December 2010 I was up early to cut some roses for Ken to take to Odette. Rod, Anne, Joel & Shane came for breakfast at 7.00am. We had the traditional pancakes, bacon & eggs with OJ. I was not feeling 100% after a late night but had some fun entertaining Joel. Joel is starting to get some words out now and copy cats everything. Ken called in to collect the roses about 9.30 am & managed to catch up with Rod, Anne & Joel. Shane had just left as he had work to do at home.

We had a 12.30pm shot-gun start at golf for the Christmas Gala Day. I was glad of the cart as I was really feeling tired by then. Our playing partners were Craig Ward & Lorraine Bignall & they both played well. Once again my team carried me all day with me making a contribution on the first hole & that was about the end of it. We stayed for dinner at the club with Lorraine & a few other golfers so we did have a good day except for the golf.

Monday 6th December 2010 we were at F-Troop at 7.00am. We had 12 volunteers today so we managed to get a good bit of clean up done. In the afternoon we called in to Officeworks so I could pick some more printer ink, had lunch at Subway and called into Repco to pick up a folding table that they had advertised. Monday evening at 6.00pm we went back to the club to have a trial run at using poison wands on the rogue grasses that are growing through our fairways. There were five of us to get the job done & then of course we had the mandatory drink upstairs after the event which meant yet another late night. Today I received an nice email from Vashti & some photos of her new baby girl. I have attached a photo of Stacia Avah Rose Emmerson, born Friday 26th November 2010. Vashti & Adam are very happy & proud parents.

Tuesday 7th December 2010 we had our Annual Ladies Christmas Party & Presentation which is a big event for us. We had drinks and nibbles out on the balcony at 11.15am to start the day then we retired to the Magnolia Room for the Presentation of trophies, lunch & entertainment. I did not win any trophies this year but I did manage to win a raffle prize.

I had a huge golfer's blog report to do for that which meant another late night.

Wednesday 8th December 2010 (today) I was up early as I was due to meet Anne, Rae & Joel at Myers to witness Joel's visit to Santa at 9.00am. The garden needed to be watered as the weather has been hot and today is scheduled watering day.

It was all action stations across the street with police vans & cars everywhere. Apparently early this morning there was a Police Raid on the flats across the road & they had discovered a drug lab set up. The police have been there all day and are still there as I write this with a crime scene tape sealing off the area. A fire control unit has been blocking our driveway all day.

I managed to get the car out with some maneuvering & help by Peter so I could get out to Erina in time to meet Anne.

We had a nice day at Erina, starting the morning with coffee & a bit of shopping while we were waiting for 10 o'clock start time for Santa. When we finally made it to see Santa Joel had fallen asleep in his stroller and refused to be woken up. We decided to do some more Christmas shopping & have some lunch while we were waiting for Joel to wake up. We finally made it to Santa Joel was friendly while Anne was holding him, giving Santa high fives. When the time come to sit on Santa's knee he bailed out so Anne had to hold him. We managed to get a couple of photos to record the moment. I did a bit more shopping after Anne went home but it was such a hot day I ran out of energy to do more.

When I got home I had to park in the street as our driveway was still blocked by the fire truck.

Tomorrow we have an 8.30am start when some of the F-Troopers are coming around to help me shift a large rock orchid out of my garden & transport it to the Golf Club Gardens so I hope the predicted wet weather holds off until after we are finished.
