This was a typical pre-Christmas hectic week trying to do five things at once. I am not sure that I succeeded but what is not done by now is not getting done.
Thursday 16th December 2010 I was up at 5.30 am to plant out the seedlings of Petunias and Portulacas in the front gardens. Then I hedged as much as I could & promised myself I would do the rest next week. I worked up to 11.30am then it was a quick shower & change & out to the hairdressers at 12.30pm for a make over. While I was in the hairdressers we got a very heavy storm with some light hail that did not do any damage. It was all over by the time I came out of the hairdressers so I was happy that the seedlings had got a good water in. In the late afternoon we went back to the Tuggerah Super Centre where I had got my Ecco Golf Shoes last time to see if they had any more. Peter was buying me a pair for Christmas because I liked my other pair so much. When we got there they were selling them on special for $100 pair, but if I bought 2 pairs I could get them for $60 pair. Needless to say I got 2 pair. One pale blue to match our golf buggy and the other in white with lime green. I was lucky that the demonstration shoes Ecco put out just happen to be in my size. How convenient!
Friday 17th December 2010 we did some Christmas shopping in Gosford. While there I randomly called into my beauty shop & they were able to fit me in at 11.00 am for a pedicure & manicure which was a big bonus. I made an appointment for the following day for a facial treatment (may as well do the works) & then made it home in time to go over to the golf club to prepare the Wedding Garden for the Friday Night Raffles and Children's Christmas Party. We took over all our coloured Christmas lights, chairs, our new folding camping table & some drinks & nibbles for later in the evening. We put up the coloured lights & it really made the garden special. Rod, Anne & Joel arrived in time for Joel to see Santa & get his present. Once again he was very shy of Santa, but loved his present of a bag of jelly beans. Joel had a lovely time running around the garden & grounds at the golf club with me in hot pursuit. Shirley & Cyril from next door joined us at our table & we had a lovely evening chatting well into the night. We were fortunate enough to get beautiful balmy weather which made it a great night to sit under the stars. The Golf Clubhouse was booked out with social parties so we had to make our regular Friday Night Raffles outside. We won a Christmas ham in the raffles so I was happy.
Saturday 18th December 2010 we were back at the club at 7.00am to pack up the Christmas lights and to clean up the gardens and surrounds for a 3.00 o'clock garden wedding. I was at the Beauty Shop at 12.30 for my facial which was very appreciated by then.
Sunday 19th December 2010 I was up early again to get ready for Rod, Anne, Joel, Shane & Sam who were coming for breakfast. Shane & Sam are camping over Christmas so we were having an early family Christmas celebration with them to exchange presents. Joel got a big digger for his present and was very impressed.
At 10.30 we left for golf. Our playing partners were Rosalie & Duncan Dyer. Like us, they have purchased an electric golf cart in a dark blue colour. We had organised to come colour co-ordinated with our golf buggies just for a bit of a laugh. Peter let me wear my blue golf shoes for the occasion. We had a good day with lovely company - pity about my golf. We all stayed for dinner at the club that night so it was another late night by the time I finished the Golfer's Blog.
Monday 20th December 2010 we had our Annual F-Troop Golf Day and Christmas Luncheon. The weather had done a 360 degrees and was blowing freezing cold wild winds. I had a vest and full jumper on and was still cold. There were trees, branches and leaved down & scattered every which way over the course. There were seven groups of F-Troop Golfers and we started at 8.30 pm playing a Team 1 X 2 X 3 which is very sociable. Our team for the day was Peter & myself, George Foster & Di Beechey. We were only beaten by one point for the trophy of a bottle of wine each. We managed to ignore all the mess & enjoy our golf. After golf we had a private Christmas Luncheon in the Magnolia Room compliments of the Board as an appreciation of our work over the year. We were able to hand out our new F-Troop work Shirts with the new club logo which will be a new image for us next year. It was a good way to finish the year in spite of the bad weather.
Tuesday 21st December 2010 I put in a full day in the back yard planting out the rest of the petunia seedlings & cleaning up the gardens. I have managed to fill three green bins this week.
At 6.00pm I met with Mark Stimpson & Ray Presdee at the Golf Club for another session of poisoning of the rogue grasses on the course. We got two & half fairways done in an hour which was good seeing there was only three of us working.
Wednesday 22nd December 2010 (today) I was up early to give the gardens a good water as it is watering day today. Later in the morning I went to Erina Shopping Centre to get some more Christmas shopping done. I had a successful morning getting most of the things that I wanted.
It was very hot again today & I was glad to get back home out of the heat.
I have bought a TENS machine (Transcutanious Electrical Nerve Stimulator) which is good for sore and aching muscles. I thought it would be good for Peter's knees and for myself when I have had a big gardening session. I have used the machine at the Physio's when I have had an injured back & found it beneficial.
Christmas Day is looming. I am having the easiest Christmas Day I have had in 40 years. We are having Rod, Anne & Joel over for a Christmas Breakfast. The rest of the day is all relaxing with lunch at Anne's parents place & dinner at Copacabana with Butch & Anne & their family.
Normally I am catering for a huge lunch at home. so this year I can take it easy.
