Monday 6th September 2010

A catch up to get my blog back into Monday sync. We have had some weird weather the last few days ranging from fine & sunny to rain, gale force winds and chilly.
Friday 3rd September 2010 I spent the day in the golf club gardens chipping and trimming around the shrubs and trees on the course. It was a full day of gardening as there was a lot of work to be done. I managed to get most of the putting green garden weeded & mulched.
Saturday 4th September 2010 after grocery shopping I decided it was time to replace the lace curtains in our bedroom as the old ones were past their "use by" date. I was lucky enough to find what I wanted at the first stop at 'Spotlight' so I had the new curtains up by lunchtime. After lunch I went over to the Golf Club to tidy up the wedding garden area for a wedding that was booked for Sunday afternoon. As we were going to be playing golf on Sunday I only had to hope that a Saturday clean up would be good enough. I also weeded more around the putting green garden. It was an overcast day & we had rain overnight which made it easy weeding.

Sunday 5th September 2010 was Father's Day and Rod, Anne & Joel came for breakfast. Joel is cutting more teeth & had a heavy cold which made him a bit sooky. Joel helped Peter open his presents & then we got some good hours with him but confined to the house as it was a very windy unpleasant day outside. Shane & Sam were having a week's R & R at the Gold Coast so we chatted with Shane on the phone. We had arranged to play golf with Graham & Anne as the players that we had booked in with had to cancel. Graham & Anne decided that they would have a game as they have not had a chance to play together since last January. By the time we got to the Golf Course the wind had become gale force & we were tempted not to play. There were huge branches down from the trees from the force of the wind but we decided to play anyway as there was blue sky & sunshine & we hoped that the wind would calm down during the afternoon. We played the back 9 first & the wind was really strong & we spent a bit of time chasing our hats & trolleys. The second 9 was still windy but not so strong & it actually got quite warm out on the course. We had a lovely day in spite of the wind with Anne playing really good golf for someone who had not picked up clubs for 9 months. Graham scored a lovely 40 points & won the Men's Singles for the day & I got runner up in the women's singles with 39 points being beaten on a countback. Our team was also beaten on a countback so we were a bit unlucky.
The wedding still went ahead in the wedding garden as scheduled but the area was a real mess with the gale force winds throwing debris everywhere. The Bride & Groom were insistent on a garden wedding regardless of the weather & seemed to be very happy with the day. The Magnolia Room looked lovely so I think everyone forgot about the weather once they were inside. Graham & Anne needed to get back to Sydney after they had stayed for a few drinks after the game so we stayed at the club and had dinner with Mark, Anne & Louise Stimpson who are always great company.
Monday 6th September 2010 (today) was F-Troop day & we started the day at 7.00am knowing we had a huge workload to do with just picking up all the loose timber & debris around the course. We worked hard all day & the course was much improved by the time we finished. We felt as if we had picked up tonnes of timber & the pile of timber at the dumping area backed up that thought. (photo attached) The garden competition judging is being held this Thursday morning so I am running out of time to get everything perfect having to waste so much time cleaning up after the gale force winds of yesterday. I was lucky that I got some extra volunteers turn up to help today which I was very appreciative of.
Rain is forecast for tomorrow but I hope that is just a threat as we are playing a special team game with L'Oreal gifts as prizes which we are keen to win. My team players are Leonie Casey & Glennis English & the last time we tried to play in this game it was rained out so we do not want a repeat of that.
