This was supposed to be a quieter week but somehow it got to be just as busy as last week.
Tuesday 7th September 2010 was L'Oreal Day at golf and thankfully it did not rain this time. My playing partners were Leonie Casey & Glennis English & we were good players out of luck & did not get away with the L'Oreal gifts on the day. I did score 36 points and my highlight was not wiping any holes.
Wednesday 8th September 2010 we had a lovely spring day & was perfect for working in the garden. I was in panic mode trying to get all the gardens at the golf club as close to perfect as I could get as the garden inspection was scheduled for first thing Thursday morning. We were donated some more spring flowers so I planted them out in our "Spring flower" garden to give it some more colour & worked my way around all the gardens that I could so that they were presentable after all the gale force winds of last Sunday there was a lot of mess around. That was a full day & I had some aching muscles that night.
Thursday 9th September 2010 the garden judges arrived right on schedule and at 8.30 am I took them in golf carts around as much of the course as I could in an hour. We got to show off the best of our gardens & trees & hopefully we have done enough work to at least get a mention at Presentation on the 23rd of this month. We will not know the results until the night of the Presentation so we have our fingers crossed until then. The rest of the day I spent weeding the putting green gardens.
Friday 10th September 2010 I was supposed to be going to the Floral Festival at Kariong with Anne & Joel. There was rain predicted so Anne decided not to risk it with Joel. Instead Peter & I did some shopping - stopping at Clarkson's for nine bales of garden mulch, Aldi's to check their specials (came out with a pair of sneakers and 1/2 dozen other things that we didn't really need), Coles for some household goods, Bunnings for some more garden goodies, lunch at Subway & then went to the golf club where I did some more weeding and some mulching at the putting green.
Saturday 11th September 2010 we had a garden wedding at the golf club at 3 o'clock. I decided to go over at 8.30am & do a clean up to prepare the club entrance and the wedding garden for the wedding as the wind storm from last Sunday left such a mess. I got home about 11.30 am & went straight into my gardens at home & managed to weed, fertilize, spray & mulch the gardens at the side of the house & trim the hedge & plant out Joel's rose "Hot Chocolate" before rushing back to the club to put out the satin cushions in the wedding garden & take some photos for the golfer's blog. Then it was back home for a bit of a rush before going back to the club to collect the cushions & check that all was okay in the gardens. That was a full on day so a long hot soak in the bath was required to ease the muscles.
Sunday 12th September 2010 was another busy day with Rod, Anne & Joel coming over for breakfast at 7.00 am - Orange juice, Bacon & Eggs, Toast & Tea was on the menu. I had some fun with Joel in the garden where we did some digging & watered in the new rose that he bought me for my birthday, played with the plastic pegs & had a bike ride on the veranda. At 10.45am we left for golf & luckily the weather had stayed fine. Our playing partners this week were Rosalie & Duncan Dyer & we had a great day. The highlight of the day was Rosalie almost getting a "Hole in One" at the 8th - it was so close to the hole and just stopped 7 cms out. We had some really high scores come in today and for my 39 points I lost a stroke but did not even win a ball. Rosalie did win nearest the pin which gave us each a ball so that made our day. We stayed for dinner at the club with Mark & Anne Stimpson helped Yvonne & Des Wilson celebrate the news of them due to become grandparents next year.
Monday 13th September 2010 (today) was F-Troop day. We started at 7.00 am & finished at 3.30 pm - a long and busy day. After the wild winds of last Sunday we had so much mess around the course we did not know where to start first. Tomorrow we have a special Ladies Invitation Day so we started at the 1st hole & worked our way through as far as we could as well as cleaning up underneath the clubhouse so that all looked presentable for tomorrow. We have a forecast of 90% chance of rain for tomorrow so I am hoping that it will not arrive until after golf is finished. My playing partners tomorrow are Jan Walker, Jan Hoban & Joy Reardon. Joy is my visitor that I invited to play so we are looking forward to a nice day. We are all wearing pink as the day is to benefit the Breast Cancer Foundation which is one of our favourite charities.
