Friday 6th November 2009

Lyn has sent me some photos of our newest family member "Noah". I have attached some of them above.

It has been another hectic week with very little wet weather to interfere. We have had a few showers and some hot and cold days just to mix it up.

Friday 30th October 2009 I attacked the front gardens. They are weeded and fertilized, watered & pruned.
The roses are growing well and the standard weeper rose "Seafoam" has been at it's most spectacular best.
The snapdragons are still flowering beautifully and adding a splash of colour where needed.

Saturday 31st October I attended the presentation of the Men's Championships trophies so that I could get some photos for the Golfer's Blog.

That night we went to a Halloween Party at Ross & Christine Drakeford's which also served as a reunion night for the NZ Golf Tour Group. We had a good night. The house was decorated appropriately with scary halloween spider webs, lights and spooky things and everyone dressed up in great outfits, although none of us were prepared to do a neighbourhood "Trick or Treat" in case someone recognised us in our "good look" outfits.

Sunday 1st November Rod, Anne & Joel came for their traditional breakfast. Joel had not been well the last couple of days so he was a bit sooky. Anne & I tried to get on the computer to book some tickets for Anne & her friends to see "Wicked" the musical but had difficulty getting through so we had to adandon the exercise to another day.

Later that morning we played golf with Nigel and Sheena Asken. The boys won the keno ticket easily however Sheena & I had a lovely day - but pity about the golf.

After golf presentation we went to Shane's birthday party which had started with a 3.30pm BBQ. By the time we got there most of the family had gone but we did catch up with Shane's friends playing pool downstairs. We managed to catch up with Len & Helen who we haven't seen for a while.

Monday 2nd November we had a big F-Troop day where we worked from 7.00am until about 1.30 pm. We managed to get the rest of the new trees & shrubs on the 2nd fairway replanted and fixed up some steps at the 3rd tee. I also prepared an area of garden to plant Mondo Grass at the 6th. In the afternoon I had to get some banking done & pick up a couple of things before rushing home to meet Alice Collett who was calling in to cut some roses for tomorrow's Melbourne Cup luncheon. We were able to get three buckets of flowers which were going to decorate the lucheon tables.

Tuesday 3rd November was a big day of golf starting with an 8.00am shotgun start. My playing partners were Yvonne Wilson, Rosalie Dyer and Shirley Daly. Our chosen colours for golf were black & red we changed into black/red/white outfits with matching hats for the luncheon which was held in the Magnolia Room that has great views over the golf course. We watched our traditional Fashion Parade, had presentation and then watched the race on the big screen. Unfortunately the TV had a malfunction in the middle of the race so we had to race out to the small screens to see the finish. It was a good day but I was unlucky in the sweeps. Rosalie and her husband won $1000 with their calcutta ticket and Yvonne got a 2nd prize in the sweep so we did have something to celebrate. Rod & Anne won a part trifecta so they were happy.

Wednesday 4th November I spent the major part of the day planting out Mondo Grass at the 6th tee. There are going to be weddings every Saturday for the next two months in the Wedding garden at the golf club so I spent some time tidying up that area and planting some crocus bulbs that we had donated to us. After I got home I finally gave up on the computer method to book Anne's tickets for "Wicked" so did the booking by phone which proved to be much easier.

Thursday 5th November was Peter's birthday. I spent the morning doing a house tidy, then we went out to lunch & then came home to cook the traditional Mum's Lamb Roast for the family. Rod & Anne bought Joel over early so that we could have some playtime with him. We set his porta cot up in the spare bedroom so he would have a quiet place to sleep while we had dinner. Joel had his first bath in the "Big" tub & settled straight down to sleep after his dinner. Shane & Sam arrived & we had a good family night to celebrate Peter's 67th birthday.

Friday 6th November (today) we attacked the back yard with a vengeance. We had the trailer at our place so it was a good opportunity to get rid of the bulk of the bouganvillea and rubbish in the back yard. Pulling the bouganvillea down unfortunately opens up the backyard to the surrounding flats so I will have to think of something else that is not quite so vigourous. In the afternoon I had the last of my interviews to do with the court case. Thankfully that is the end of that.

I have attached some recent photos of Joel who is growing up fast and is just sooo000 cute.
