Friday 12th December 2008

I am sorry I have been off the air for a few days because I exceeded my budget level of broadband uploads/downloads and have had to wait for a restart time. It has been a very hectic few weeks one way or another so the golf blog was the only one updated. This is a catch up from 30th November onwards. We have been coping okay and finding plenty to do in one way or another.
Sunday 30th November was the Annual Naggers Cup day at golf. This is a very popular event & I was sorry that I had to miss it. The physio has got me off golf until after Christmas and I find that I cannot stand or sit for a long period of time without upsetting the nerve. I had overdone my walking one day and paid the price. Shirley Daly (our next door neighbour) filled in for me for the Naggers Cup playing with Col & Lauren Matterson. I joined the group at the half way mark travelling by cart & supervised them for the rest of the match. We stayed for dinner at the Club with Col & Lauren so it was a very enjoyable day.
Monday 1st December it was F-Troop Day & the boys were given the task of esembling a sign at the front of the club (photo attached). We had been given advice by the police that the accused intruder was to appear in court that day so we were escorted during the hearing by the local detective in charge. It was a long 4 hours waiting in court for the few minutes that it took to adjourned the case until some time in late January, however no bail was granted. It will be some time before the administration work is done on this case.
Tuesday 2nd December was the Ladies Annual Christmas Party & it was a very successful day.
I did not win any golf trophies this year however I did manage to win the very last draw of the raffle and came home with some chocolates and a bottle of wine.
Rod & Anne came to dinner on Thursday night and brought the DVD of the 12 weeks scan of our new grandchild-to-be. Facinating stuff to watch. I wish that had been around in my youthful days. I was amazed at the information the Doctors could extract from the details of the scan.
During the week I went shopping for a new laptop computer to replace the stolen one & finally decided on a H/P laptop with all the latest and greatest functions. That meant I had to get a new wireless card which did not impress me very much as the old one was still working well but the new computers cannot use it as it is considered obsolete at 3 years old. I eventually had to concede and buy a new card from Bigpond. It thankfully worked straight up so hopefully it will be smooth computing from here. I use the laptop for travelling to downlaod photos, also so I can email independently of other systems & I also use it for transferring information between the two computers.
Saturday 6th December we had a lovely BBQ dinner with Bob, Vicki, Bruce, Gwen, Mark & Anne at Bob & Vicki's home. We had a friendly game of 500 (cards) after dinner and at which I came home resoundingly in last place. (not much concentration happening)
Sunday 7th December was Christmas Gala Day at Golf. Once again I did not play and just as well because it poured down with rain late in the afternoon just when I was considering joining the group for the last few holes. Rosie Dyer played in my place with Norma & Ray Presdee as playing partners. Everyone had a good day even if they came in a little worse for wear.
We had dinner later that night at the Chinese Restaurant at Kincumber with our friends from golf - Doon, Bob, Robin, Doug, Des, Yvonne, Wally & Robyn and enjoyed a bit of Christmas cheer.
Monday 8th December Peter played golf at St. Michaels in Sydney & I spent the morning at F-Troop working on the native garden on the 6th. The F-Troopers put down some timber edging around the garden (photo attached) & I did some slow trimming and weeding.
Tuesday 9th we were again at the garden on the 6th - transplanting some trees and clearing the garden. In the afternoon I spent an hour or so trimming the hedges and driveway with the electric hedger.
Wednesday I spent some time on the estate work, got some legal advice & made a start on the Christmas cards.
Thursday I finished off the cards and 'thank you' notes and actually got as far as posting them.
In the afternoon we did some work at the golf club gardens transplanting in the front gardens.
Thursday night we went to the Avoca Theatre to see "Australia" the movie with Hugh jackman & Nicole Kidman. I love the atmosphere of the Avoca theatre - so old fashioned & comfortable.
You can almost hear the jaffas rolling down the aisles. (photo attached). We went early with George & Tosca & had some wine and nibbles before the show. The night was to benefit the Central Coast Barbershop Chorus & they put on a very entertaining night. We saw Ken, Marg. and Elsie there and also Di & Neil who have been away travelling around Australia.
Today I presented myself at the hairdressers and came out with a new shorter style. My hairdresser Tara was trying to convince me that I had some natural curl happening & encouranged me to let her try & cut it in & not put a perm in. I am not convinced at this time but a few weeks will tell the story. In the afternoon we had our first councelling session to keep the healing process going.
It has rained the whole day and is still raining now. We seem to be ranging between cool and wet to hot & blazing days.
I will endeavour to update this blog on a more regular basis so that it is not so hard to read.
