Saturday 6th September 2008

I have chosen a good week not to play golf so that I can rest my "Tennis elbow". It has rained inches in the last two days not to mention the showery days previously.
This morning I emptied the rain gauge just after 7 o'clock because it was overflowing. By the time I had finished my gym circuit about 9 o'clock we had registered another 7 mm. By this afternoon it was reading 27 mm. It just has not stopped all day. I have heard on the grapevine that we have had over 5 inches of rain already & it is still raining.
I have really appreciated my treadmill this week. It comes into it's own when the weather is constantly wet like it has been this week.
On Saturday 30th August I decided that I needed to have a better work station for my computer. I had previously had my eye on a computer desk that I liked so the time seemed right to get the set up done. I ordered the furniture to match the filing cabinet that I had bought previously.
On Sunday 31st (Dad's birthday) we played golf with Ron & Lynn Puiatti. I did not play well again this time so have decided to give my arm a rest for the coming week. Our day on the village green was good except for the golf scores. Lynn won a ball & Ron won nearest the pin so we got a bonus golf ball. After golf Ron & Lynn joined us for dinner at "Michael's" restaurant at East Gosford where we met up with Des & Yvonne Wilson and Joan & Don Briety. We had a lovely night to finish the day off.
Monday 1st September was a huge day with the F-Troop. It was the most beautiful spring day we could have had. I have entered the golf club gardens in the local council garden competition. The gardens are going to be judged a couple of days after we get back from Tasmania - so all the preparation work has to be done before we go away. We have been donated a heap of orchids so they need to be split up & replanted - a job for next week.
Tuesday morning 2nd September was wet early so I was happy I had nominated not to play golf. The day was spent fixing up bits and pieces around the house, paying accounts & doing a few things around the golf club, a visit to the bank to sort out some Estate details.
Wednesday 3rd September I did a bit of retail therapy & in the afternoon spent a hour or so going through a local nursery with one of the F-Troop members checking out new trees, shrubs and plants for future planning for the club. It was interesting to find what great new plants were available. I was home in time to prepare a baked dinner for our friends that we went to Queensland with recently. We decided that it was time to have a dinner & play cards so that I could have another practice at "500". Mark & Anne, Bruce & Gwen, Bob & Vicki are all very good players & play regularly together. The dinner was good with contributions from everyone. Again I was the weakest link in the cards but it was fun trying. It was 1.00am by the time I got to bed so I was in for a sluggish day on Thursday.
Thursday 4th September I had an early morning appointment with the solicitor to discuss issues with Mum's estate & the rest of the day I spent in recovery mode as it was a very wet and uncomfortable day to be attacking the gardens at home which was on my schedule. I spent some time organising what I would need for Tasmania which is only 8 days away.
Friday 5th September was continuously wet all day. It was too hard to do anything outside or at the Golf Club so I settled on doing catch up work at home until my office furniture arrived in the late afternoon. I was surprised to find that the shop would deliver on such a bad day - however it was good as I could spend the rest of the afternoon & evening transforming my office area into something special. I was delighted with the results as I can now use all of my equipment which is all at fingertip distance. I can use the laptop & my main computer in tandem which is what I wanted. (photo attached).
Saturday 6th September (today) was just as bad as yesterday. Non stop rain all night & right through the day. It was useless to attempt any gardening. I am taking part in a fashion parade for the Pandora Club on Wednesday of next week at Avoca. Monday I was to be going out to Terrigal to get outfitted for the parade. It seemed to make sense to do it today as it was such an awful day to do anthing else. It worked out well as Terrigal was pretty well deserted with the wind and rain howling. The girls in the shop were happy that I called in as they could start to get the parade clothes together on such a quiet retail day. We stopped off for lunch at East Gosford near Rod's place. We arranged to meet him for a beer after lunch at his "office" The Elanora Hotel. Then it was off to one of my favourite places - "Office Works" to pick up some new files etc to complete my "new" office look.
Next Monday was to be a Charity Golf Day for the Kidney Foundation & I was intending to play if my arm was not too bad. As it turns out the weather has put a stop to that as the course will be unplayable even if it stops raining now. We would need galoshes to get around for the next few days. As I said earlier I have picked a good week to decide to rest my arm - so hopefully now it will be good for Tasmania if I rest it all of next week as well.
