Tuesday 19th August 2014

It has taken a rainy day and cancelled golf for me to get time to update my blog after a couple of busy weeks.

We have had a lot of rain on and off - not as bad as Sydney so it is good for the gardens.

Thursday 7th August 2014 Lyn & Richard arrived for a few days holidays with us so we could all go to Matt & Jana's wedding from Gosford.  It was a bit squashy in my walk in wardrobe but they managed to fit in okay on the air mattress.  We had a relaxed dinner that night - a little too relaxed as we finished up about 1 am in the morning after solving all of the world's problems.

Friday 8th August 2014 we were a little dusty after the previous night so we had a relaxing morning at home waiting for Phil & Lorraine to arrive.  Anne & Rod bought Joel and Emily over in the afternoon to say hello.
The kids were tired after being at a birthday party that day so it was baths and home for them.  That evening we went to the Golf Club for dinner with Shane & Danielle joining us there.  We had a good night leading up to the wedding.

Saturday 9th August 2014 we travelled to Turramurra for the wedding in two cars arriving in plenty of time for a coffee and snack before the church service.  Matt & Jana's wedding went off perfectly on a beautiful weather day.  We had a wonderful time - meeting up with Kay & Greg and Dale & Barry who had already been in Sydney.  We stayed at the Park Royal Hotel in Darling Harbour which was very convenient to the Town Hall Railway Station.  We left our cars at Turramurra after the wedding and caught the train into town and walked to the hotel from the station.  After happy hour drinks we caught a taxi to the reception at Pier One which is a magnificent venue.   As usual we had a good time as we always do when we get together as family.  Our room at the hotel was very comfortable and in a very convenient spot.

Sunday 10th August 2014 we had breakfast at Darling Harbour just below our hotel.  Kay & Greg and Lyn & Richard were taking a harbour cruise on the Tall Ship before coming home to Gosford.  Phil & Lorraine and Peter & I caught the train back to Turramurra to pick up our cars.  When we arrived we were upset to find that Phil's nice car had been scratched by some low life.  Our Lexus was okay and it was parked right next door.  We called into Graham & Anne's on the way home to find that they were still in Sydney so we continued on home to Gosford.  That night we had dinner at the Gosford Hotel where Lyn & Richard and Kay & Greg joined us after they got back from Sydney.

Monday 11th August 2014 was a low key recovery day.  We watched the golf until mid day.  Kay & Greg left to go to Maitland to see Rachel & Olivia and then were flying home on Tuesday.  Phil & Lorraine had a wander around the shopping centre at Erina, Peter did some grocery shopping while I took Lyn to Palmdale to put some flowers on Mum & Dad's resting place.  In the afternoon Lyn & Richard did some shopping & I cooked up a Mum's Lamb Roast for our final dinner together.  We had a nice family dinner popping the tops off a few bottles of wine.

Tuesday 12th August 2014 Phil & Lorraine left to set off for Moree - planning a straight run home while Lyn & Richard set off for Dubbo where they were staying with friends overnight before heading home to Cunnamulla.  They all had good runs with no problems on the road.

Wednesday 13th August 2014    I had a morning at the golf club gardens while Peter played golf.  There was a lot of catch up work today after taking a week off of garden duty.

Thursday 14th August 2014 it was a better weather day so I was able to catch up with the washing and had a general house clean up and replacing my walk in wardrobe - now back in order.

Friday 15th August 2014 We did the household shopping, bought some more fish for our fish tank, called into Bunnings for odds and ends to Aldi to pick up some birthday treats.  That evening we went to the Golf Club for dinner and raffles and managed to win a breakfast tray.

Saturday 16th August 2014 (my birthday) Peter took me to the Wyee Nursery for a lovely lunch in their garden restaurant and I bought some plants for the golf club gardens, some plants and a new rose for my garden at home.
That afternoon we went to Rod & Anne's for dinner, birthday cake and presents. Shane & Danielle were there so we could have a nice family dinner.   It was a good day and Joel & Emily were very excited to blow out my birthday candles with me.  The rain settled in that evening and looked to continue

Sunday 17th August 2014  we had heavy rain which was enough to cancel the golf for the day.  We had an easy day at home - in between showers I planted in some pansies that I had bought at the Wyee nursery. That evening we had dinner at the Gosford Hotel with Mark & Anne & were joined by Georgina & her son Adrian to share a birthday bottle of wine.

Monday 18th August 2014 the weather was still threatening but we were at F-Troop at 7.00am and managed to get some good work done before the heavier rain set in.  I was happy to learn that tomorrow's planned stroke match had been postponed because of the bad weather.  It would not have been an enjoyable day in those conditions.  We had woken up this morning to find that some low life had tried to steal our Hyundai car at 5 o'clock that morning.  He did not succeed but made a mess of the starter. Unfortunately we had left the car parked in the front street and our video could not pick up any clear detail - just the torch light as he worked. "Not happy Jan"

Tuesday 19th August 2014 we had a lot of rain overnight and more spasmodic rain today.  Every time I have tried to go outside to plant my new rose and some petunia plants the rain starts again. Very frustrating.  We had the NRMA tow the Hyundai to our mechanic who is going to replace the starter hopefully.  We really need our little car for running about town.  We are having the garage door openers reset as the garage opener was taken from the Hyundai which is a worry.

It looks like the rain will be around for awhile - on and off.  The sun is out now so I might make an effort in the garden until the next shower.
