 Trams in Melbourne

This week was a busy one - having a fabulous few days in Melbourne to see the Flower Show.

Tuesday 25th March 2014 I was up early to meet Di at Gosford Station to catch a train through to the airport for our flight to Melbourne.  Our travel went without a hitch with us arriving at the airport in plenty of time to check in and have breakfast.  The flight was good and we landed in Melbourne to enjoy good weather.  The bus transfer to our hotel was easy and we checked in without a problem.  We spent the afternoon having a look around the South Bank area, the Casino and went up the Skydeck tower to take in the beautiful views of Melbourne from 88 floors up and ventured out on the glass platform 3 metres out from the edge of the building.  It was a good experience.  Our hotel was walking distance so we enjoyed the exercise.

Wednesday 26th March 2014 we made our way to the flower show via taxi and walking.  The Flower Show was well worth the effort having some magnificent displays of flowers and garden ideas.  We walked around for 5 hours absorbing all the information and displays.  I did a bit of shopping at the outlet shops on the way home to the hotel and decided to go to the Casino for dinner and checked out the entertainment (Elvis impersonator) and watched people loose their money at the tables.

Thursday 27th March 2014 we went to the Victoria Markets via the trams where we did some more shopping then we caught a tram to St Kilda Beach as neither of us had been there before.  The tram service in Melbourne is good.  There is a free tram that does the City Circle which is a handy way to get around even thought it gets very squashy at peak hours. That night we went to a restaurant for dinner walking distance from our hotel & then it was time to go back to pack for home.

Friday 28th March 2014 we were up early to catch the airport bus which was just across the road from where we were staying.  We arrived at the airport in good time and just as well as I had left the garden shears that I had bought at the Flower Show in my hand luggage.  I had to make a hasty dash back to check in to put all my hand luggage through as check in.  Luckily we had travelled light.  The flight home was an hour late which was annoying but we still were home for a late lunch.  It had been raining at home - so we were lucky that the Melbourne weather was good with only a few light occasional showers.  That evening we went to the Golf Club for dinner and the raffles.  No prizes this week.

Saturday 29th March 2014 we went out to Erina as Peter wanted some new shoes to take to China. Then I went over to the Golf Club to clean up for the Garden Wedding later that day.  In the afternoon Rod, Anne, Joel and Emily came over and stayed for dinner.  The kids loved their presents from Melbourne.

Sunday 30th March 2014 I did a catch up at home.  We had a day off golf as we had to get organised for our upcoming China Trip.  That evening we went over to the club for Presentation and then went to the Gosford Hotel for dinner with some of our golf friends. We had a huge electrical storm with heavy rain overnight giving us another 2 inches of rain in two days.

Monday 31st March 2014 we were up early for F-Troop. The course was very wet but we managed to get some good clean up work done. Peter helped out at the Charity Day BBQ while I did some more weeding. I needed a nanny nap in the afternoon to catch up.

Tuesday 1st April 2014 (today)  I was up early to go to golf.  The weather was lovely but it was still very wet underfoot.  My playing partner was Sandra Innes and we had a good day even though our scores were not great.  I did manage to win a ball so that was a good highlight.  After golf I gave my clubs a good clean and packed them into my golf travel bag ready for their journey to China.  Now I have the rest of the week to organise everything else!!

Tomorrow would have been Greg's 45th Birthday - Hard to believe! We will have a glass of cheer for him over dinner!
