Monday 3rd October 2011

The last couple of days have been very busy getting my computer & iPhone set up with contacts and emails etc. as well as having a good result in the Garden Competition for the Golf Club Gardens.

Thursday 29th September 2011 it was a horrible wet and windy day so it was a good excuse to stay indoors with my new toys.  Thursday evening I went to the Gosford Garden Competition Presentation Night with Di Beechey and Georgina Lamb at Erina Fair Conference Rooms.  We had an excellent result with the Golf Club Gardens winning a major prize for the Best Commercial Garden and also got a finalist award for the Native Garden on the 6th which makes all our efforts at the golf club gardens worthwhile.

Friday 30th September 2011 I had some fun with my iPhone loading some good applications that we can use while we are overseas.  In the afternoon I had some "me" time at the beauticians getting my nails done etc.

Saturday 1st October I spent the morning getting the house up to date in preparation for our holidays. Then I went over to the golf club to prepare the grounds for the garden weddings that were on this weekend. I was disappointed to find that one of our gardens had been destroyed by party goers at a function at the club the previous night.  Luckily there was no rain until late evening so the golfers & brides did not get wet.  I spent the rest of the day catching up at home clearing out my "to do" box & filing papers etc.

Sunday 2nd October 2011 we went over to Rod & Anne's to see the kids before leaving on our trip to China.  It was teeming rain with some thunder and wind.  We were to have been playing golf with Garry & Doreen Trigg but it was just too wet to contemplate going out on the course.  It was a good decision as it rained for the rest of the day.  We stayed at Rod & Anne's until it was time for Joel & Emily to have a sleep.  We dropped Rod to the Elanora Hotel where he was meeting friends to watch Canterbury in the finals.  We spent the rest of the day with a bit of R & R before going over to the club to check how the wedding party got on today as the weather was not too good.  The rain had stopped & the Bride & Groom were out on the course having photos taken so it was not a disaster.  We got a take away dinner & went home to watch the grand final of the football.  I updated the golf blog on my iPhone as a test to see if it worked with no problems.  It worked quite well which is a relief as I want to able to update the blog while I am overseas and I have to travel this time without my beloved laptop computer.  The replacement laptop is in transit somewhere & will arrive too late.  Anne is going to take delivery of it while I am away so I will have that to look forward to when I get back.

Monday 3rd October 2011 (today) we were early to F-Troop and fortunately the rain had stopped overnight & we had a nice day to get some jobs done at the club.  I did have some joy when I rang the supplier of our garden hedge plants & he offered to replace the damaged hedge plants free of charge which was very generous of him. He even delivered the plants to the club so we could get them into place before we go away.  We are on our way tomorrow so we spent this afternoon getting the bags packed etc.  I have applications on the phone that tells me the weather in China, converts our currency, converts the time difference & gives me the correct flight details from the airport which will be a help while travelling.  I just love the iPhone and am getting better at using it.  I am using the iPhone camera in place of my normal camera as it takes better photos & just as easy to download to my computer.

My roses are growing beautifully as you can see by the attached photos.  We have had a lot of rain & they are responding well to having plenty of water.
