Monday 5th September 2011

Friday 2nd September 2011 we spent most of the day at the golf club with Peter taking care of maintenance jobs and I worked on the Lomandra Grasses on the 5th clearing all the weeds a digging a trench around the top of the garden.

Saturday 3rd September 2011 we did the household shopping, picked up 10 bales of sugar cane mulch and some new seedlings for the front gardens.  I spent the rest of the day working in the front gardens getting them weeded and mulched and planted in some new petunias and pansies for some summer colour.

Sunday 4th September 2011 - Father's Day - Rod, Anne, Joel & Emily came for breakfast of pancakes, OJ, bacon & eggs.  We had a leisurely morning playing with the kids before going to golf at 11.30am.  Anne made a lovely cake for Father's Day which she decorated herself so Joel had a lot of fun helping to blow out the Father's Day candle.   We had a beautiful sunny day for golf.  Our playing partners were Col & Lauren Matterson and we had a lovely day on the course.  It was playing well as it had dried out quite a bit in the last week so we all had a good game & managed to win the Teams Event which was a good highlight to our day.  Peter got runner up with 43 points and I was stoked at getting 38 points which is the best I have played for a very long time.  We stayed at the club for dinner with Col, Lauren, Mark, Anne & Louise which finished off a good day.

Monday 5th September 2011 was F-Troop day & we had 15 volunteers turn up which was good.  We managed to get a lot of jobs done including finishing off the grasses at the 15th, new soil for the garden at the 10th & picked up some more mulch for the gardens at the 6th.  It was a very tiring day but very worthwhile as we got a lot of jobs done.

The weather has been really nice this week & I have been able to achieve a lot in the gardens at home and at the golf club. The gardens are all looking great after all the rain we have had and the azaleas this year have put on a good show.  There is more rain forecast in the next couple of days but hopefully it will only just be enough to water the gardens.  I am not playing golf tomorrow as we are having the security people around to set up an alarm system to protect our house from intruders.  Hopefully it will be enough deterrence for the low life.
