Monday 4th October 2010

There was not a lot of golf happening this week but it has been an eventful week all the same. The weather this week has been very unsettled, cold, windy & showery.
Tuesday 28th September 2010 we managed to get our Foursomes Championships played without any rain. In fact it was a hot day which was a bit of a shock to the system. My Foursomes partner was Rosemary Cohen who I have played with for the last four years or so.
We did not combine all that well this year as the scores will show but we did have some good highlights during the day. Our playing partners were Elizabeth McNamara & Shirley Daly & we had a good day on the village green.
Wednesday 29th September 2010 I went to Sydney with Rosalie Dyer & Yvonne Wilson from the golf club to see "Jersey Boys" at the Theatre Royal. We had a lovely lunch at DJ's Food Hall before the show & walked to the theatre from there. We all enjoyed the show & related well to the music. We were lucky to get the 4 o'clock train home which did not make it too long a day.
When I got home we went out to the Cafe Sicilian Italian Restaurant in Gosford with Mark & Anne Stimpson so we could do some forward planning for our Perth Golf trip scheduled for next year.
Thursday 30th September 2010 I finally got to face the garden pond & bridge area which has badly needed a trim for some time. It does not seem to take long for the ivy to take over. It took all day & we filled the trailer with rubbish from the cleanup. I still have more work to do there but at least it was a start.
Friday 1st October 2010 I was over at the golf club very early with all the hoses set up to water all the new camelias along camelia way which was quite a job & as well watered the new garden at the 1st. That took most of the morning when I had to hurry home to get ready to go to Newcastle for a 3.30pm wedding of Erica McMahon's. We had booked into the Crown Plaza on Wharf Road, Newcastle which was the closest hotel to the wedding reception which was held at Harbourside Function Centre. The wedding ceremony was held at Shepherd's Hill which overlooks Newcastle. It did not rain but it was cold with blustering winds which were even worse when we got to the top of the hill. The wedding was lovely & it was great to catch up with Lyn, John & all of their family. It was a very late night but a lot of fun.
Saturday 2nd October 2010 we had a late breakfast at the hotel and said our goodbye's to the McMahon family before heading straight home as there was a wedding in the wedding garden at the golf club at 3 o'clock & I needed to do the last minute tidy up for that. It had been showering on and off all morning but the bride decided to get married in the garden anyway rain & all.
Sunday 3rd October 2010 we had not booked in for golf this weekend as rain had been predicted. It proved to be a good decision as Sunday & Monday were both showery & unstable days. Rod & Joel came over for breakfast & stayed until Anne finished work at 3 o'clock so I had a lot of quality time with Joel. As it was such a wet day we set up a little sand pit on the covered front verandah & Joel thought that was just wonderful. I did manage a short walk with him between showers but we mainly had to stay under cover so the tupperware drawer was a very useful amusement for him. The rain continued so we had a quite afternoon & evening watching the footie grand final, cricket & Ryder Cup Golf.
Monday 4th October 2010 (today) was more of the same. Anne was working today so Rod & Joel came over for the day. F-Troop was cancelled as it was too wet to do anything at the club.
We entertained Joel much the same as yesterday & managed to get out into the back garden between showers. It was a lazy day watching the Ryder Cup Golf Event. Today was Sam's birthday so we took a trip to Erina to do some present buying and then dropped a gift off at Sam & Shane's house. Later in the afternoon we went over to the golf club to witness the voting count for the new Club Directors prior to tomorrow night's AGM.
I am booked in for golf with the ladies tomorrow so I hope the predicted showers hold off long enough for us to get our game in.
