Wednesday 3rd February 2010

Well it is a hard life here - but someone has to do it!
We have had some wet weather but mainly heavy rain at night & showers through the days but not enough to spoil our days.
We have caught up with some movies at the theatre that we never seem to be able to find time to do at home. We have seen Ït's Complicated" (funny); "Law Abiding Citizen" (only in America); Ïnvictor" (an inspiring story).
We had a nice day at Ballina on Saturday where we went to the Ballina Markets (check out the mango photo) and then went to a lovely restaurant at the Beach near Ballina for morning tea which became lunch. I had pancakes and warm berries - couldn't eat it all but it was lovely.
We have been cooking on our BBQ and eating out on the verandah watching the storm clouds.
The cabins are good in bad weather as they have a good covered verandah.
Yesterday (Tuesday 2nd February) we girls left the boys at home & drove to the Gold Coast for a shopping spree. We first went to the Royal Pines Golf Resort to check out the Pro shop stock before going on to "Harbour Town"which is a huge centre easily the size of Erina which is just about every conceivable factory outlet shop available - so we had a ball there. I was drawn straight to the Golfing factory outlet where I did some considerable damage to my credit card. The clothes were imported from America and quite different to what I would expect to find at the normal golf shops. Harbour Town is a "MUST DO" if you are ever in that area & can be found on the corner of the Gold Coast Highway and Oxley Drive at Southport (towards Runnaway Bay). I bought a little surf "rashie"shirt for Joel at the DJ's outlet which is just georgeous.
Joel had his first swimming lesson at the weekend - Anne said he was not too keen to start with but managed well.
The last two weeks have flown by and it is sad that the holiday is drawing to a close. I have been enjoying my early morning walks along the beach front & it has been my job to collect the morning papers along the way so the papers are there for breakfast. I hope I have now given myself enough incentive to get back into my walking routine when I get home.
Today is going to be an R & R day at the beach. The seas have been a bit rough & it is a bit too windy for fishing. We have had enough whiting to have one meal for the masses which has been one good thing. Overall the fishing has been dissapointing for the boys.
The weather has been good overall as it has not been cold at all, nor over hot - so all is well.
