Our couple of days at Katoomba were blanketed by fog and misty rain. We were unlucky to get our timing wrong - apparently it was 38 degrees last Sunday and down to 10 degrees when we were there.
We think we have at bad on the Central Coast - The Blue Mountains have had something like 11 millimetres since December and the whole are is very dry & burnt. The greenkeeper told us that the water supply was getting low & like us, are needing some good steady rain. They have the added problem of the foggy weather that settles in after heat and can stay for something like four days. The clubhouse had two people in it the first day we were there and none the second.
A few diehards turned up to play in the fog and rain on the last day but they were regulars who knew the course. Just another day for them I guess.
The lack of patronage on these days would be a cashflow worry for the management.
