Thursday 6th November 2008

This week was a bit of a mixed bag with the weather - all four seasons. We managed to get our golf game in on Sunday with our playing partners Des & Yvonne Wilson. The boys played really well and had us beaten by the 3rd last hole for a Keno ticket. I wanted to bet them double or nothing for a nearest the pin on the next hole but they decided that was within our capabilities so did not take up the bet. Just as well as we were not even close. We had dinner at the club to finish the day off with some of the late stayers.
Monday was a busy day with F-Troop in the golf club gardens. It got to 30 degrees so it was hard going however we got some good work done. In the afternoon we got some roses picked from my garden to decorate the tables for the Melbourne Cup Luncheon the next day.
Tuesday was Melbourne Cup Day and it is always a good day at golf. We start off with an 8 o'clock shotgun start playing a team stableford which is always fun. Then we dress up in our hats for a champagne lunch and fashion parade before watching the big race. I had a top day.
Our team played well enough to win a ball, I won the lucky door prize which was a $100 voucher at Sandelwood Fashions and to top that off I got first and third place in the sweep. After the golf day was finished we went around to Bruce & Gwen's place where the boys had been having a BBQ. They were all a bit glum as none of them had picked the winner. It was a hard race to pick this year.
Wednesday was Peter's birthday so the family came for dinner & Ken & Marg came over later to share the celebration.
Today has been a recovery day & catch up day around the house.
