Wednesday 1st October 2008

Today is the 1st October and I am not sure what happened to the rest of September it went so fast. I have been very busy since returning from Tasmania catching up here at home and at the Golf Club gardens. I entered the golf club gardens in the Council Garden Competition and had the inspection scheduled for Friday 26th September so it was a busy week leading up to that day getting the course ad gardens looking its best. The F-Troop & club members were great and all kicked in to do their share of cleaning up.
The inspection went well with the two council representatives showing interest in all of our projects. Thankfully the wild windy weather held off until Sunday when we had some very strong winds in latter part of our golf. I was only able to enter one garden as a theme garden so I chose the Wedding Garden as it is our newest theme garden. The whole of the golf club was entered as an overall garden so we just have to wait for judgement day to hear the results.
Friday night I attended a concert which was put on by the Central Coast Post School Options group which are young adults with disabilities of some sort. Louise, the daughter of our golfing friends Anne & Mark is a member of the group so I went along to watch her. They really did put on a great concert showing remarkable talent for their disabilities. (photo attached). I have great admiration for the carers & professionals that gave their time to put the show together.
I did not play golf this week - resting my elbow for the teams event on Sunday - but I did attend the presentation on Tuesday & Thursday - staying back for drinks to celebrate one of the girls birthday (photo attached).
Sunday was the final round of the Team Series event. I really felt under pressure to score well as in the previous two events I had been the weakest link. We were coming in equal second at the point of starting the third round thanks to my partners who had played well.
Thankfully I came in with a score of 41 & that was with driving with my rescue club to take the strain off my elbow. I was very happy with the day & our team came in second on the day by one shot & lost the main spot by 4 shots. Peter won the overall men's result over 54 holes so it was a good day. Overall we won a pair of golf shoes each, a golf bag, a shirt, rain jacket & hat & multiple golf balls. Sunday night we had a dinner dance and presentation at the club.
On Monday we had another clean up day with F-Troop after the wild winds of the weekend.
Nephew Andrew arrived to have a couple of days with us while he is checking out some work in Newcastle.
Tuesday was filled doing bits and pieces that needed doing prior to us going to Hunter Valley for golf next week and China in a few weeks time. I got to the girls presentation just in time to get my golfers blog information.
Today, Wednesday, I spent the majority of the day in the garden here at home. It was work that was well overdue. The roses are just starting to sprout (photos attached) so they needed some attention. In the afternoon I met up with Martin & Jakob at the Golf Club to have a run around the course. Jakob is a local horticulturist who is giving us advice on what trees and plants would be suitable for the course. Martin is one of the F-troopers who is in charge of the tree selections.
Our golf China tour is on schedule so all is well with those arrangements.
