Friday 6th June 2008

This week has been a mixed bag - with weather interfering with my lifestyle no end - however it was not all bad.
It is not too hard to fill in a week - bad weather or not - so it has been busy one way or another.
Sunday was a good day at golf - not so much in the scores - but it was a good day socially. Our playing partners for the day were Jan & Neville Walker who came with us on our China trip last year and we are also going in the group together for a week in Tasmania in September. The weather held out for us & we stayed for dinner after golf ( in fact last to leave the club - yet again!) We had a nice day with Jan & Neville & booked another day of golf with them later in the month.
Monday was a day with the F-troop at the golf club until the rain set in. We did manage to achieve some good work before the rain made it too uncomfortable to work on.
Tuesday was to be a big day at golf. I was to have played 27 holes with my playing partner Rosemary Cohen in the Club Foursomes Championship. We started off well and were not playing all that badly when the weather got increasingly threatening when we reached the 16th hole. From then on it was a deluge with the greens soon under water and we were all called in off the course. By then of course we were drenched to the skin. Fortunately I had thought to put in a spare change of clothes as the weather forecast for the day was not good.
The end result was that today's results were null and void (a pity as we were shaping up alright) & now the event is to be replayed next Tuesday - but over 18 holes.
Early Wednesday I had the last of my health checks and that was with my dentist. It was a stress free visit with an all clear verdict at the end and he does not want to see me for another 12 months.
That was an excellent result as I have never got over my childhood "Dentist phobia". I will leave this check until the very last as I still have this dread of entering a dental surgery even if I never really have any concerns with my teeth.
Wednesday the Golf Course course was closed so after the dental visit...... out of sheer boredom & the fact that my sister Lyn had given me some gift vouchers for the movies we went to see the latest "Indiana Jones" movie.
Well what can I say! It was amusing and entertaining if you kept in mind that you were watching fiction and not fact. Harrison Ford was very inspiring considering his age & perhaps we could convince ourselves that we could be just as good given the editing skills of the producers.
Anyway it filled in the very wet day. It seemed a good opportunity to claim back on the dental expenses from the private health fund at Erina Fair & have late lunch there as well.
Thursday the rain continued to fall - so it seemed a good day to pay the car registrations, rates & other outstanding matters. Had lunch at a little coffee shop at East Gosford which was very nice. I cannot remember the name but I will go there again as the food was fresh and lovely.
I managed to find a need to go to "Office works" again for another browse.I have been tidying up my "things to keep" files - (mainly on travel) during the week and needed to buy some more suspension files for my new filing cabinet (yet to arrive). Some black printer ink and some business envelopes ( that I needed!) I eventually escaped the place with not too much damage to my credit card. The afternoon was spent at the Golf Club having a chat with whoever came into the club. It was a bit of a wasted day from a "work achievement" point of view but a pleasant way to spend a wet day if the golf course is closed.
I have had two new people wanting to join our China golf tour in October this year so I have had some paperwork to do there.
Friday was busy - starting at 8.30 am with an appointment for Graham & I at the solicitors to discuss Estate matters & sign papers etc. From there I had some bills to pay & then be at the hairdressers by 10 o'clock. I was home by 12.30 and ready to go to lunch at Fisherman's Wharf at Woy Woy with Des & Yvonne Wilson. By then the day had cleared and it was really very pleasant there by the water with nice food, a glass of wine and good company. We actually had to change tables at one stage as the sun was shining so brightly through the restaurant.
It was a long lunch and not too hard to take. During the proceedings we decided that next Friday would be a good day to catch a Ferry to the Davistown RSL - just for the fun of it - so watch this space for reports.
I believe that we have had over four inches of rain this week - so the gardens are very happy & the water storage tanks full. Time now for some sunshine for next week.
