Wednesday 27th November 2013

The last 10 days have flown by - we have had an amazing mix of weather covering every phase of weather from hot and sunny, windy, showery, thunder storms, lightning, heavy rain.

Monday 18th November 2013 we had continuing rain all day.  F-Troop was a non event for us gardeners as we could not get out on the course at all.  Some of the boys turned up to do some under cover maintenance work.  My Internet went down and I was unable to use the computer until the problem was worked out. So it was a quiet day at home for me.

Tuesday 19th November 2013 Our ladies golf was washed out so we all went over to the club for the 1.30 pm start for the Ladies AGM.  It was reasonably uneventful with a new committee elected in for the 2014 year.

Wednesday 20th November 2013 there was more rain and thunder storms so Peter did not play golf. We watched the golf and cricket matches on TV.  We also worked out the Internet problem which was just a matter of restarting the modem which renewed the Internet connectivity.  The only problem was that it also interfered with our home security system which did not like the Internet to be down.  After some testing we got it all back on line so all is good again.

Thursday 21st November 2013 I went over to the Golf Club to trim the lavender garden at the 16th.  We also checked out the batteries in our golf cart which have shown signs of wearing out.  We went and got some quotes and it looks like we are up for a set of batteries. ouch!

Friday 22nd November 2013 I was up early to cut some roses to take to my beauticians. We did the household shopping and I had my nails done in the afternoon.  That evening we went to the Club for dinner and raffles.  We won a breakfast tray of bacon, sausages and eggs.

Saturday 23rd November 2013 I was over at the Golf Club early to clean up the Wedding Garden for a Wedding at 4.00pm that afternoon.  By 11.30 the rain started to pour down and it was doubtful that the Wedding may be held in the garden.  I was home by 12.00pm to look after Emily while Anne took Joel to a birthday party.  Peter did not play golf because of the rain.  Rod, Anne, Joel and Emily stayed for dinner and went home after the kids had their bath.  Emily was such fun to look after.  She is so well behaved and kept me on my toes with all the games she likes to play.  The wedding at the club had a happy ending with the weather clearing up to a beautiful sunny afternoon and the wedding was held in the Wedding Garden as planned.

Sunday 24th November 2013 I was up to do some dead heading in the garden as the roses have all been knocked around with the wet weather. Our playing partners at Golf were Wally & Fay Bailey.  Wally & Fay called around before golf bringing us a baby car seat and a highchair that they had finished with.  We need to stock up for baby no 3 due next April.  The golf event of the day was the Annual Naggers Cup which is keenly contested every year.  Peter and I played played 3 shots over of our handicaps which kept us out of the trophy lineup.  We did have some good highlights and enjoyed the day.  The club Bistro was closed so we went to the Gosford Hotel for dinner with a group of our golf friends. Our Golf Cart did not make it around the 18 holes of golf today - so new batteries will be required.

Monday 25th November 2013 we were up early for F-Troop.  We were down a lot of volunteers due to holidays and health issues so we had a very busy morning getting everything done before a big charity day started with a shotgun start at 11.30am.  That afternoon it poured with rain for several hours.  We went out to get a couple of quotes for the new batteries we are going to need for our golf cart.

Tuesday 26th November 2013 I played golf in the Ladies Tuesday Closing Day.  My playing partners were Lesley Gregory, Sue Hutton & Sandy Laybutt.  We had a fun day playing a team event and finished up winning a ball and were only one shot shy of winning a trophy.

Wednesday 27th November 2013 (today) I worked at the Golf Club wedding garden until 2.30pm.  It was a big morning of work and I was happy to be a lounge lizard in the afternoon.  It was a lovely sunny day - not too hot - so I enjoyed being outside.

Tomorrow the weather is threatening to turn very hot so it will be back to slip, slap & slop the sunscreen for the Ladies Thursday Closing day of golf.

Sunday 17th November 2013

Well, we wanted rain - we got it.  My golf has been washed out three times in a row ("Not Happy Jan") however we badly needed this nice soaking rain.

Friday 8th November 2013 I went to the Ladies Committee Annual Luncheon at Avoca Beach.  It was a very hot day but when I got there the sea breezes actually cooled it down so much that we needed to close the weather blinds for comfort.  We had a nice luncheon and it was beautiful to be at the beach on such a lovely day.  That evening we had dinner at the Golf Club but did not have any wins at the raffles.

Saturday 9th November 2013 the weather changed and Peter did not go to golf.  I spent some time in the gardens dead heading the roses which are looking beautiful at this time of the year.

Sunday 10th November 2013 Rod, Anne, Joel and Emily came for breakfast and Shane also with his friend Danielle.  We had a nice leisurely breakfast and then our golf partners Peter & Sandy Laybutt rang to say they thought it would be too wet to play golf so golf was cancelled.  The weather was closing in again so we were happy to stay home.  Rod & Anne stayed for lunch and then took the kids home for their naps.

Monday 11th November 2013 the weather was still showering so we called off the normal F-Troop day as we could not have got out on the course.  Anne Burgess & I went over about 10 o'clock to do some clean up and I trimmed and cleaned the big gardens at the 10th.

Tuesday 12th November 2013 was meant to be a big District Ladies Competition Day with 140 odd players. Thunder storms hit about 8 o'clock and again at around 10 o'clock so the golf day was cancelled. Peter and I went to Erina movies to see "Captain Phillips" starring Tom Hanks who is an actor that I like.  It was a good movie and very dramatic for a real life story.

Wednesday 13th November 2013 I had a big day in the Golf Club gardens finishing off the section of gardens I was working on last Monday.

Thursday 14th November 2013 we went out to Wamberal to pick up another trailer load of Agavi plants for the golf club that were donated from a friends garden.  We dropped the plants at the Golf Club and then I came home and did some work in the gardens at home including some hedging.

Friday 15th November 2013 we did the household shopping and a trip to Bunnings.  I started work out the back gardens to clean out the garden ponds so I can get them back into good order.  That evening we went to the Golf Club for dinner and came home with four meat trays which was a good bonus.

Saturday 16th November 2013 Peter played in the 27 hole Foursomes Championships at golf so I spent the morning cleaning up the wedding garden area.  Anne, Joel & Emily came over in the afternoon and stayed for a pizza dinner.  Rod joined us after he got back from helping Shane work at his Gwandalan house.

Sunday 17th November 2013 a tiler friend came and looked at our bathroom and toilet tiles that are loose on the walls.  The end conclusion was that they had to be taken off, cleaned and replaced.  Peter was given the job to clean the walls and tiles before next week as out tiler will be coming back to replace them on the wall.  They have been there for over 15 years so I suppose something has to give over time.    Our golf partners Duncan & Rosalie Dyer rand and we decided to call the golf off again as the forecast was for heavy rain.  Sounds like a nice afternoon to chill out in front of the TV and watch the golf - fingers crossed for Adam Scott.

The weather forecast for tomorrow is not much better than today so we may be in for another quiet day.
