Wednesday 27th February 2013

Another busy week has flown by.  We had some more bad weather at the weekend but then some fine and hot weather for the rest of the week.

Wednesday 20th February 2013 I spent the day in my rose gardens at home.  The black spot has attacked with all the wet damp weather.

Thursday 21st February 2013 Peter was painting over at the clubhouse and I did some mulching of a new garden  that we had put in over there.

Friday 22nd February 2013 I did a babysit for Anne while she had other things to do.  I was up early to cut roses for Anne's Auntie as she had just lost her grandson at 14 years of age which was very sad. Joel and Emily were very good all day considering it was very bad weather for most of the day with some heavy rainfall and high wind.  They were inside for most of the day and it was good to have the covered verandah so they could go out and play in the sandpit.  Friday evening we went over to the club for the badge draw and raffles.

Saturday 23rd February 2013 we had bad weather all day so I spent some time updating my travel blog and edited the photos for San Diego - so I am slowly making progress.  Our playing partners for golf tomorrow rang and we decided to call off our golf for Sunday as it was so wet.  It had rained so hard that the wind had blown down a large tree over the wedding garden at the club.

Sunday 24th February 2013 Rod, Anne, Joel & Emily came for breakfast.  They left the kids with us while they went over and sorted out their unit which they have sold and it settles early March. We went over to the club to see how much damage the tree had done to the wedding garden and were pleased to find that there was very little damage done.  In the afternoon we went to the movies with Duncan & Rosalie to the Paradiso theatre at Ettalong to see the "Quartet" which we enjoyed.  We could relate to the 'getting old" aspect of the film and I liked the idea that many of the cast were the original singers and musicians even though they were not actors - they played themselves in the movie either singing or playing their musical instruments.  After the movies we called into the Old Woy Woy hotel for a drink and then checked into the Golf Club to see who had played golf and picked up the results slip.  Lorraine & Kevin were the only ones left to go out for dinner so we went to the Gosford Hotel for dinner with them.

Monday 25th February 2013 Peter played golf at Magenta Shores and I went to F-Troop to help clean up the fallen tree which was a huge job.  To my surprise we had the whole thing cleaned up by lunchtime and amazingly there was hardly any damage done to the gardens, Rod popped in for a chat on his way home from work. They are going camping to Anna Bay which will be a good break for them.

Tuesday 26th February 2013 I played golf at last - having the last two matches washed out.  My playing partners were Doreen Trigg and Nan Richards and we had a good day - although it was heavy going after the rain.  We did not have great scores but neither did many others. Nan and I both came in Runner Up in our Divisions and I won a nearest the pin - so that was a good highlight. Shane popped in for a catch up chat on his way to bowls.  He is on holidays and doing a bit of house renovating.

Wednesday 27th February 2013 (today) I was up early on my walking machine to try and get some fitness back and managed to walk 4 klms.  The arthritis in my feet is still giving me problems so I have not been doing a lot of walking. Peter played golf and Anne called in for a while in the morning.  They are going camping to Anna Bay for a week tomorrow so I hope the weather is kind to them.  We have got more rain forecast tomorrow and Friday.  Later in the morning I went over to the Golf Club Gardens and spent 3 hours tidying up the wedding garden area as there is a Friday Garden Wedding planned - another reason for not wanting more rain.

Tomorrow I will try to get out in the rose garden before the rain returns.  There are a few roses that need another support stake after all the high wind of last week.

Tuesday 19th February 2013

This last week has flown by resulting in me falling behind with my blogs.  We have had mixed weather with more wet weather coming up.

Sunday 10th February 2013 We did not have our weekly visit with the kids as they were having a day at a camping show.  We played golf with Lorraine Bignall and Kevin O"Brien and had a good day as they won the mixed event which was our highlight of the day.  After golf we went to the Gosford Hotel and had dinner with our golfing friends.

Monday 11th February 2013 we had a huge day at F-Troop finishing only when it got too wet to work.
The rain was setting in so I did some more photos in the afternoon for the travel blog.

Tuesday 12th February 2013 the golf course was closed as we had 66 mls of rain over night and it showered on and off all day.  I was able to get some of my travel photos done for the travel blog and got most of my Grand Canyon photos done.

Wednesday 13th February 2013 I was at my beauticians to get a badly needed manicure as my nails were destroyed from gardening.

Thursday 14th February 2013 - Valentine's Day I was at my hair dressers for a badly needed cut and colour.  That afternoon we called out to Duncan & Rosalie's to show them our travel golf bag that we are taking to Vietnam.  We stopped for a drink and ended up staying for dinner  It was a lovely afternoon and we enjoyed sitting out on the veranda enjoying the view over Gosford.

Friday 15th February 2013 Anne brought Joel and Emily around for a visit as she did not need them to be babysat that day.   Emily had her hair in pigtails for the first time and looked very cute.  Joel is growing up and enjoyed being able to find one ripe tomato on our vine.  That evening we went to the Golf Club for dinner and raffles night and one a meat tray.

Saturday 16th February 2013 we did some household shopping and I spent the day catching up at home while Peter was at golf.

Sunday 17th February 2013 we called over to Rod & Anne's before golf to have some time with Joel and Emily.  Our playing partners were Wally & Robyn Johnston and we had a good day.  Peter played well and I had a respectable 32 points considering the daily winner was 35 points.  After golf we went to the Gosford Hotel for dinner with some of our golf friends.

Monday 18th February 2013 we were at F-Troop early and worked through until 1.30pm.  It was a big day so a nanny nap was required in the afternoon. Our Vietnam Golf Tour is creeping up and it is now time to part with the dollars now that our final itinerary has come through.

Tuesday 19th February 2013 (today) we played golf at the Springs Golf Course at Peats Ridge with Col and Alice.  We had a good day even though I did not score well I enjoyed the course and the company. We were lucky enough to get good weather.  The Springs is a resort course that is just being developed and the new clubhouse has not opened yet.

We have got some wet weather forecast from Thursday onwards to the weekend so it will be indoor sports if we get heavy rain.  My garden is looking good with the roses bursting out with new buds after the recent TLC I have given them.

Saturday 9th February 2013

Time has flown and I seem to have been multi tasking all week.

Thursday 31st January 2013 was Rod's 40th birthday.  Rod, Anne, Joel & Emily came over for a Mum's Lamb Roast and some birthday cupcakes.  Luckily we had won a Baked dinner package at the Friday night raffles last Friday.  I spent the day at home cooking the cupcakes and baked dinner.  We had a good night and the kids loved blowing out the candles with Rod. Peter had a Board Meeting and had top miss the dinner.

Friday 1st February 2013 I did some gardening in the morning and in the afternoon helped Anne to decorate the room at the Golf Club for Rod's 40th Birthday Party where he had invited 40 friends to help him celebrate.  By the time we had finished decorating the skies opened with torrential rain and the temperature dropped to very cold.  We had a good night dancing to a live band until about 11.30 and then Sam, Shane & a few friends came to our place for a night cap.  Rod went out on the town with his mates.  I think we got to bed something like 2.30 am.

Saturday 2nd February 2013 we were up at a reasonable time as one of Rod's friends stayed the night and Shane & Sam came around to pick him up the next morning and stayed for breakfast.  I had to go over to the Golf Club in the afternoon to clean up the area for the Bridal Expo that was being held there on Sunday.

Sunday 3rd February 2013 Rod & Anne & the kids came around for breakfast & to pick up all the birthday presents from the party that finished up at our place.  We were playing golf early so had to get away by 10.30ish.  Our playing partners were Rosalie & Duncan Dyer & we had a good day with the boys beating the girls for the keno ticket on the 17th hole.  After golf we went to the Gosford Hotel for dinner with a few of our golf friends.

Monday 4th February 2013 we were up early for F-Troop and had a very busy day shifting mulch & tidying the gardens.  In the afternoon I had to go out to the bank & the chemist and then write up the F-Troop report for the Club Newsletter so I had a very exhausting day.

Tuesday 5th February 2013 I was up very early for a 7.30 shotgun start for our Ladies Opening Day at Golf.  My playing partners were Rosalie Dyer & Kath Payn and we played well enough to win a ball. It was the dreaded BB Vs Par Team Event and our highlight was that we did not have any wipes.  Kay rang and we had a good catch up chat as it was her 60th birthday tomorrow.  Hard to believe - Kay does not look  within a cooee of 60.

Wednesday 6th February 2013 I was up very early to beat the morning heat as I wanted to spray all of the roses.  I was able to get it done before the heat arrived and there was no wind.  It took me the rest of the day to weed and dead head the gardens but it all looked good and the roses are budding up beautifully after their recent fertilizer hit.  I hope we do not get any more excessive heat days to burn them off.

Thursday 7th February 2013 we went over to the Golf Club to trim back one of the Magnolia Trees that has got an infection and had to change a few of the plants around the course to a new home.  We went to Bunnings to get a few things and had lunch at Subway before a bit of grocery shopping at West Gosford.

Friday 8th February 2013 I was out in the gardens to deadhead again and check for infections.  I had a catch up day with the washing and ironing.  I had lunch in Gosford with a couple of my old workmates and had a good catchup with them.  We went to the club for raffles and dinner and won a couple o meat trays which was a good bonus.

Saturday 9th February 2013 (today) we did some household shopping before Peter went to golf and I spent the day sorting out paperwork, got our tax work in order, sorted out the "in" box that had been building up for want of filing, paid some bills and generally stayed out of the heat.

Tonight we will be attending the Annual Presentation Night at the Golf Club so it is all happening.
