We have had a full on holiday experience travelling through California from San Francisco to Los Angeles.  We are currently chilling out at Santa Monica for a few days to give us a chance to rest up and catch up on photos etc. 

 

 

We left Sydney on 30th August 2012 and had an uneventful flight flying with Virgin Australia and had as good a flight as we could hope for.  We arrived in San Francisco & booked into our hotel after a very tiring trip.

 

 

Friday 31st August 2012 we had a full day tour of San Francisco which included Alcatraz Island and was the highlight of the day.  That evening we met up with the rest of the tour group and our official tour was to start the following day with Insight Tours.'

 

Saturday 1 September 2012 we had a free day to wander by ourselves around the city and met up with the tour group for dinner in Chinatown in San Fran cisco.

 

Sunday 2nd September 2012 we left on the organised bus tour that tpook us to the Napa valley where we had lunch on the Napa Wine Train and did some wine tasting which was the highlight of the day.  In the afternoon we visited Sanoma and had some more wine tasting before staying at Sanoma for the evening.

 

Monday 3rd September 2012 we travelled through the Sierra Mountains to Yosemite National Park (pronounced "Yo-semmity" which was spectacular. Unfortunately for us there had not been any rain for quite some time and we only got to see one waterfall.  We stayed the night at Yosemite national Park.

 

Tuesday 4th September 2012 we travelled to Carmel-by-the-sea which is a lovely little place and had lunch there on our way to Monterey where we stayed the night.

 

Wednesday 5th September 2012 we travelled to Santa Barbara stopping at the Hearst Castle which was an intereting experience. 

 

Thursday 6th September 2012 we visited the Mission at Santa Barbara before travelling to Los Angele having lunch at Santa Monica and visited the Paul Getty Museum and then on to our hotel in Downtown Los Angeles.

 

Friday 7th September 2012 we did a Hollywood Tour & saw all the interesting stuff in LA. 

 

Saturday 8th September 2012 (today) we left the bus tour at Los Angeles and caught a taxi to Santa Monica where we are spending a couple of days to rest up before going on to San Diego.

 

I will be updating my travel blog when I get home with some of the best photos from our travels.  I have over a thousand photos to sort through up to today so it may take me some time to get that done.

 

We are having a great time and have had perfect weather so far.

Finding free Wi Fi can be a problem and finding enough time to update is another.
