Tuesday 24th July 2012

Gosford Townies re-union at the Elanora Hotel

Gosford Townies re-union at the Elanora Hotel

I am well and truly over the constant wet days we have been having.  We did have a couple of nice sunny days and then the rain was back.

Tuesday 17th July 2012 I played golf in the Monthly Medal stroke match.  It was a freezing cold day & not pleasant at all on the course.  My playing partners were Di Beechey and Helen Stuart who were great company which saved the day.

Wednesday 18th July 2012 I worked out in the back garden pruning the roses and weeding. It was a cold day and by 4 o'clock I had to come inside out of the cold.

Thursday 19th July 2012 Peter had to work over at the club so I did some more gardening out the back & filled up the green bin.

Friday 20th July 2012 we went out to all of the kitchenware outlets to look at cooktops as our old one had had it's day having done 20 years service. I was amazed at the available choices and spent hours deciding on what type to buy.  We watched a demonstration of a Westinghouse Induction cooktop at Domayne which held my interest because the cooktop was so easy to use and offered great options for cooking.  We spent a couple of hours comparing prices at Good Guys, Harvey Norman etc and finally got the best offer at Harvey Norman.  The induction stoves require special stainless steel saucepans so we went to Erina to check them out and to have some lunch.  We are having the cooktop installed next week so I am looking forward to that. Friday night we went to the club for the raffles and badge draw.  We did not win any prizes for the badge draw but had a nice dinner with good company.

Saturday 21st July 2012 we had a quick grocery shop before Peter went to golf.  I spent the rest of the day tidying up the house etc.  It was a cold miserable day so I was glad to be inside. Anne went to Melbourne for the weekend to have some time out with one of her girlfriends so Rod bought Joel and Emily around when he had finished work.  We got the kids fed & bathed in time for Rod to take them home to bed.  In the meantime John McMahon arrived to spend the night as he was going to the Elanora Hotel with us for the Gosford Townies re-union dinner.
We had a good night at the Elanora catching up with the old footie mates.  Attending this time we had Garry & Carolyn Morris, Trevor & Margaret Andrews, Bob & Sue Clark, John & Vicki Woods, Peter & Rhonda Hall, Chris Wilkinson, Les Place, Bub & Sue Wilkinson, Phil & Sue Hodge, Ross & Wendy Shepherd, Ron & Marjorie Payor, Brian & Lesley Gregory, John McMahon & Peter & Jan Martin.  - Not too bad for a winter re-union.
After getting home from the re-union we were tempted to sit up and watch the British Open Golf but Rod was bringing the litttlies for breakfast in the morning & then we were going straight to golf.

Sunday 22nd July 2012 I was up early in anticipation of Rod arriving with Joel & Emily & got everything ready to go to golf so we could get a quick get away. Shane called in on his way to bowls and Rod arrived for breakfast.  John McMahon was going back to Sydney as Lyn was arriving back from Melbourne where she has been on a work conference. Anne was also flying home from Melbourne today after her weekend getaway.  Peter cooked up some pancakes which Joel enjoyed. I played with Joel & Emily until it was    time to go to golf.   John headed back to Sydney & Shane went to bowls.  Our playing partners at golf were Rhonda Robertson and Donovan Parsons.  It was wet on the course and we all got wet during the match which made it hard going and we did not have many highlights except the girls beat the boys for a keno ticket and Peter got a birdie.  We stayed for dinner at the club with some of our golf friends. George & Tosca rang to say they had spent the day with Lyn & Richard at the Opal Dig which they really enjoyed.

Monday 23rd July 2012 was wet and cold.  We got up at 3.00am to watch the final couple of holes of the British Open & then back to bed until it was time to go to F-Troop. After all the rain of the past few days we could not get machinery out on the course and as it was such a miserable day we called off the usual F-Troop projects and gave everyone the day off.  Peter and a couple of the other F-Troopers spent the morning doing some measurements for the new cart shed.  It was too wet to do anything else so I went home about 9 o'clock to get warm and catch up with some much needed rest after a big weekend. I did some photos and scanning for the work manual that Peter is putting together  for the new shed at the club.

Tuesday 24th July 2012 (today) I was in two minds whether to play golf or not.  We had more rain overnight   and the course is already very wet and we were to be playing a par match.  The day looked like clearing so I made a decision to play which turned out not to be such a good idea because we all got wet again with more showers.  My playing partners were Kath Small & June Bowen & they both came in winners which made my day.  I stayed back after golf chatting for a while and got home about 4.00 and it was still raining.
I am a fine weather golfer and am not enjoying the constant wet play which makes hard work out of golf.

We are having the new cooktop installed on Thursday so I will go shopping for saucepans when I go to Erina with Anne on Thursday morning.  Tomorrow I am having a much needed haircut and will do some more gardening if the weather holds.
