Monday 10th January 2011

This last week has gone very quickly and I seem to have been busy every day. The weather has been a mixture of hot and sunny and overcast & showery - changing very quickly.
Tuesday 4th January 2011 we spent the day at home. I wanted to catch up with some things in the garden & Peter wanted to finish the long awaited repair on the side fence. I worked in the back gardens and managed to get some of the golf club lavender plants re potted into bigger pots. I unfortunately ran out of potting mix to finish the job. Late Tuesday afternoon I went over to the Golf Club to help poison out some of the rogue grasses growing in the fairways.
Wednesday 5th January 2011 Peter played golf and I went to Di Harrison's funeral at 10.00am at the Catholic Church at Wyoming. I worked with Di for many years at the office before I retired and we always worked well together & remained good friends. Di lost her battle with breast cancer which she fought for 15 years. I caught up with a few other work mates there as well some of whom I had not seen for a lot of years. This is third girl lost in a month - another from cancer (Gloria Wales - an old school friend) and one from a heart attack ( a golfing friend).
After the funeral I called into the nursery to pick up some more potting mix & then went into Gosford for some retail therapy to cheer myself up.

Thursday 6th January 2011 I spent the day re-potting the rest of the lavender plants ( 105 in all) & cleaned up around the BBQ area. Showers came in the afternoon so I was glad that I had got out early. Peter did some shopping at Aldi and came home with a bed quilt which was a bargain buy.
Friday 7th January 2011 we went to see the movie "The Kings Speech" which I really enjoyed. While we were at Erina I found some matching sheets to the new bed quilt again at a bargain buy price so I was happy that I got the whole set at a reasonable price without having to try too hard.
Saturday 8th January 2011 Peter went to golf, I did a huge wash of sheets & towels etc as it was a good drying day. After that I took to all the hedges in the place & gave them a short back & sides while I was in the mood. Again I was glad that I got out early as it got quite hot in the middle of the day. In the late afternoon I did the shrubs at the bridge in the back yard & trimmed back a bit of the ivy.
Sunday 9th January 2011 I was up early to greet Rod & Joel for breakfast. Shane arrived a little later so we had a nice family morning. Joel was a bit sooky & not his usual self so he needed lots of cuddles. We left him asleep when we went to golf at 11.00 am. The day started very wet with a lot of rain overnight & I had doubts that we would be playing golf. By 11 o'clock it had all cleared up & we managed to get our golf in before the showers started again. Our playing partners this week were George & Vicki Foster & we had a lovely day. The girls beat the boys for the keno ticket on the 17th hole so it was a close match. I was happier with my golf today & managed to put a few good holes together for a change. We stayed for dinner at the club with George & Vicki and a few other friends so it was a good day.
Monday 10th January 2011 we had a 7.00am F-Troop start. The day was overcast but humid so we were able to get all our jobs done without getting too wet. We had 16 helpers in total so we did achieve a good workload during the morning. In the afternoon I was at my dentist for an annual checkup and clean. I was happy that I got a clean bill of health with no work to be done. My dentist told me today I had been going to him for 33 years which seems incredible. He sent me for an X-ray just to be sure that there were no hidden problems so that used up the rest of the afternoon. By the time I had finished with all of that the rain was settling in and it is still raining steadily as I write this. Maybe no golf tomorrow!
