We have had a lot of good rainfall over the holiday season - good for the gardens and golf course and bad for the holiday makers. I will be happy to get back into routine again now that all the festivities have finished. The Christmas Tree & all the decorations are packed away & the weather looks like clearing to sunshine and 29 degrees for my golf tomorrow which will be great because I am playing early & should be finished before it gets too hot.
Following on from Christmas and Boxing Day we had another few days of constantly drizzling rain.
Sunday 27th December 2009 we were scheduled to play golf with Carmen Fitzgerald & Jim Forrester. I do not like wet weather golf & fortunately neither did Carmen so we declined & let the two boys go out in the elements & arranged to meet them later in the afternoon at the clubhouse for a few drinks. I spent the day road testing the new lounge & starting on my new jigsaw puzzle which is going to be quite a difficult puzzle of the coliseum in Rome as it is all yellows and browns. The rain drizzled down all day so I felt justified in my decision.
Monday 28th December 2009 we turned up to do some F-Troop work at the club but it was just too wet to work. I spent some time on my jigsaw. Butch, Anne & Heather came in and had morning tea and lunch with us as it was too wet at Copacabana (where they are holidaying) to do anything. In the afternoon we took the steam mop over to Rod & Anne's as an excuse to spend some time with Joel. Rod gave him a bath which was a good opportunity for a photo shoot.
Tuesday 29th December 2009 I played golf with Fay Bailey, Jan Walker & Wendy Stapleton. We did get a little damp in the drizzle but it was not as bad as Sunday. The golf club dams are now full to the brim so we should not have any water shortage for the rest of summer.
Wednesday 30th December 2009 I spent the day at the golf course working on the native garden at the 6th which has been overtaken by weeds in all this wet weather. I got about half of the job done & it looks much better where I have been.
Thursday 31st December 2009 - New Year's Eve we picked up some garden furniture that had been donated to the club from one of our members who lived locally. We dropped it at the club & then did some shopping. Des & Yvonne Wilson came around for coffee & we selected some sparkly jewellery for us to wear for our planned "Glitz & Glamour" evening at the "Yellow Piano" that evening. I have got a couple of tiaras in my jewellery collection & a lot of diamonte pieces so we had fun selecting our choices. I picked a bunch of roses for the girls to share tonight.
There was a group of 10 of us that were at the Yellow Piano for Dinner and Dancing. We had a great night, saw in the New Year & continued to celebrate into the wee small hours. That night Trevor Mellow (owner of the Yellow Piano) announced that the restaurant was a celebrating it's 10th anniversary in 2010 & he presented us with a bottle of wine as one of his longest clients - having being one of his first to book when the restaurant first opened and being regulars ever since.
Friday 1st January 2010 was a very quiet recovery day with a lot of road testing of the new lounge.
Saturday 2nd January 2010 was also spent quietly, renewing the food supplies & buying some new storage boxes for the Christmas Decorations. It took a few hours to pull down the tree & decorations a get everything packed away for another year. It was time to catch up with the ironing & all the mundane tasks about the house. It was still raining so a good time to catch up inside matters.
Sunday 3rd January 2010 I was optimistic that the weather would break after constant days of wet. In anticipation of that I committed to golf in the drizzling rain which unfortunately continued for the rest of the day. Our playing partners Doug & Robin Incoll played the first nine really well & I would have felt very uncharitable pulling out half way (which I would have liked to have done). We made the best of the day & had some fun beating the boys for the Keno ticket which we did on the 17th hole. My highlight was squaring the hole with Doug for a three pointer which meant the boys had to buy the keno ticket. Robin & Doug joined us for dinner at the club that night so it turned out to be a good day. After we got home later we called in to our neighbours (Shirley & Cyril ) and had a glass of cheer for the New Year. We had not had a chance to catch up with them before this.
Monday 4th January 2010 (today) the weather finally cleared up enough for us to get a good mornings work done at F-Troop getting the car park cleaned up and got some gardening and hedging done. We did get some sunshine this afternoon & forcast is for fine for tomorrow which will be great for golf.
I have been enjoying my new camera which has been very good and easy to use.
