Monday 12th October 2009

It has been a wet and cold weekend and very unseasonal for this time of the year. I have managed to wile away some hours on the computer and reading my new book.
On Saturday 10th October after some shopping we called into Ken & Margaret Gardiner's for a catch up.
Ken & Marg are building a new home at Dorrigo & will soon be moving there to retire in the peace and quiet of the countryside. Carolyn (our God Daughter) who also lives at Dorrigo, was visiting for the weekend with her three young children Bailey, Kye and Ella. While there we also managed to catch up with other visitors that called in - Di Mosely and Neil Travers and also Odette Harris and her two children Xavier and Hannah Rose. We had a lovely afternoon looking at old photos of the good old days and the good times as we can go back many decades together. It was great to see Carolyn and her children - this was our first viewing of Ella who was born about a week ahead of Joel. The rain continued into and through the night.
Sunday 11th October our morning started with our regular Sunday morning with Rod, Anne and Joel. Joel was not too well showing signs of a cold but was not running a temperature. I managed to get some cuddles before heading off to golf. The weather had been reasonable up to then, cold but no more rain since early morning. We decided to go ahead with our golf game in spite of the thunderstorm warnings as at the time we hit off it had not started raining. We were half way down the first hole when the first showers came. I am not a wet weather golfer as you know, but pressed on as our golf partners that day, Michael & Pauline Norman, were keen to play regardless of the weather. Fortunately by the last few holes it all cleared up and we finished in hot sunshine which was the highlight of my day. We stayed at the club for dinner with Michael and Pauline and a couple of the other members.
Monday 12th October (today) we had an early 7.15 am start at F-Troop. The morning weather was lovely so we got through a lot of clean up work around the course. I managed to find a use for the new F-Troop tree lopper by trimming some of the camelia trees. Tomorrow is a special Invitation Day to raise money for Breast Cancer. We make a special effort to make everything a little special on these days so my contribution was a bunch of flowers from my garden which I cut this afternoon & took over to the club. We have an 8.30 shotgun start tomorrow so I hope the weather is kind to us.
