Sunday 3rd May 2009

This week we had some good weather which allowed me to make some inroads in the gardens both here at home and at the Golf Club.
Monday was F-Troop day and we were able to finish off the path & seating area & get some ground cover plants in.
Tuesday I did not play golf but did get a good amount of gardening done at home in the front gardens.I have had a great display of Chrysanthemums this year. I bought Mum some potted ones two years ago for Mother's day and planted them in the garden afterwards. This year they were especially good - must be all the rain we have had recently & the extra TLC the gardens have been getting.
Wednesday day I caught up with the back gardens and BBQ area.
Thursday was another F-Troop day at the new garden - getting the feature garden started.
Thursday afternoon we had a surprise visit from Bec Smith who has flown in from LA for a brief surprise visit to her family. Bec looked wonderful & seems to be coping with the pressures of work and life in the USA quite well.
Friday I was back at the Golf Club to plant an avenue of 12 Tibouchina Trees down one of the fairways.
Saturday night we were at the Annual Presentation night of the Narara/Wyoming Cricket Club.
Each year Peter & I donate a trophy in Greg's memory for the "Colt of the Year"award which goes to the best under 21 year old cricketer. The winner this year was Peter Gallichan who we have known since junior cricket years and he also plays golf at Gosford so we were happy to see that he won the award.
We caught up with all the other Life members of the Club and also with Arthur Morris who presents trophies each year. Arthur Morris was a member of the "Invincibles"and played with Don Bradman. He was batting with Bradman when Bradman got his famous "duck" and went on to make a good score.
Today we played in the District Foursomes Championships which is not one of my favourite choices of play. We did have some good holes but not enough to rate. We did play with the winners however and another couple from Everglades Golf Club and that was a highlight.
The weather was beautiful in spite of the weather warnings that we were going to get rain & thunder storms.
