Gosford Townies Re-Union - July 2014

Sunday 20th July 2014 we had the Winter Townies Re-union at the Grange Hotel which is a great place for lunch.

We were happy with the numbers that we had as it is winter time and much harder to get out and about.

Those able to come this time were Garry & Carolyn Morris, Trevor & Margaret Andrews, John & Vicki Woods, Peter & Jan Martin, Dennis O'Toole, Sue Clark, Bub & Sue Wilkinson, Brian & Lesley Gregory,
Phil & Sue Hodge, Chris Hodge, Graeme & Denise Slavin, Barry Howard, Ian & Julie Gunn, Ron & Marj Payer.

We had a nice bistro luncheon with our own choice of the menu and a good space for us to all move around and mingle.

The next Re-union will be at the Kincumber Hotel on Sunday 16th November 2014 at 12 noon for a Bistro Lunch.  Hope to see you all there!

Thursday 24th July 2014

The winter chills have set in but luckily we have had plenty of sunshine, sadly no rain for the gardens.

Friday 11th July 2014 We went shopping to Bunnings and I bought a "must have" rose called "Gift of Grace". Could not go past that rose.  Later I worked in the front gardens finishing the pruning and weeding. Friday evening we went to the Golf Club for dinner and raffles.

Saturday 12th July 2014 I worked in the golf club gardens planting in some grasses at the 18th and watering the Camellia Way,

Sunday 13th July 2014 we played golf with Steven & Annette Cross on a freezing cold day.   We had a good fun day.  After golf we went to the Gosford Hotel for dinner with some of our golf friends.

Monday 14th July 2014 we were up early for F-Troop. We had a busy morning with not a lot of helpers. In the afternoon we delivered some firewood out to a home at Wamberal.

Tuesday 15th July 2014 I played golf with Kath Payn and Merran Adams in a stroke match.  Kath was our champion of the day and a winner on the day.  Merran beat me by a stroke with our scores not the best.  We had a good day and the girls were good company.

Wednesday 16th July I spent all day pruning the roses at the back gardens.

Thursday 17th July 2014 it was more of the same and I have now got all the roses prunes bar a couple of the climbers.  So that is a good job finished.

Friday 18th July 2014 We went over to Anne's unit to weed the back gardens before they move out at the weekend.  Rod and Anne are moving to a four bedroom house which will give them some good space for the three littlies.  Joel and Emily helped us in the garden and we stayed for lunch.  After lunch we went over to look at the new house which is closer to us which is good.  It is a lovely place all on one level with a great secure play yard for the kids.   That evening we went to the Golf Club for dinner and the raffles.

Saturday 19th July 2014 we went household shopping in the morning.  It was a freezing cold day so I cancelled my plans to work at the Golf Club and instead was a lounge lizard all day watching the golf.

Sunday 20th July 2014 I moved things out of our spare room (which is now my walk in wardrobe) as we have family visiting in a couple of weeks and I need to make some room.  In the afternoon we went to the Grange Hotel for lunch for the Gosford Townies Re-union.  I have got a lot of photos taken at the luncheon so I will put them on a separate posting.  We had a lovely afternoon catching up with everyone.  That evening I sat up until the early hours of the morning watching the final round of the British Open.  My favourite player Rory won the day.

Monday 21st July 2014 I struggled to get up for F-Troop and was okay when we got on the move.  We did not have a lot of helpers  so I spent the day pruning the Crepe Myrtle Trees which kept me awake.  That afternoon I was a lounge lizard again having my nanny nap.

Tuesday 22nd July 2014 I played golf with Kath Small and Judy Hughes in a par match for the Grandma's trophy.  We had an enjoyable day and my golf was improved from the previous week.  The Vets Delegate presented me with a VWGA Hole-in-One Medal which was exciting as I did not know they did that. That made up for not winning the Grandma's trophy.

Wednesday 23rd July 2014 we took an early morning trip the Aldi to pick up some of their specials and then I worked at the Golf Club planting in some gazanias and watering the gardens as it has been so dry.

Thursday 24th July 2014 I am having a catch up day at home.  It is not a nice day outside and much better inside where I have a lot of jobs to catch up with.  One of which was this blog.  I will put on the Townies photos now so everyone can copy them down.

Tomorrow we are going to see Rod and Anne's new place now that they have moved in.

Thursday 10th July 2014

Winter has finally arrived - no rain to speak of but some cold winds and very chilly mornings.

Thursday 26th June 2014 we spent some time shopping around for a new tallboy at all the furniture shops - not able to find exactly what we were looking for.

Friday 27th June 2014 I spent the morning at the golf club watering gardens and the afternoon minding Joel and Emily while Anne took Grace to the doctors for a checkup.  Peter looked after Emily while she had her afternoon nap and I took Joel down to the railway for a look at the trains.  That evening we went to the Golf Club for dinner and the raffles but no prizes for us this week.

Saturday 28th June 2014 I did some work on the golf club gardens cleaning up at the wedding gardens.

Sunday 29th June 2014 the weather was not good so we agreed with our playing partners Andy & Jann Henebury that we take the day off golf.  I did some rose pruning but mainly stayed inside out of the cold. I painted a birdcage and a wheelbarrow that were donated to F-Troop so I could put them out in the gardens.

Monday 30th June 2014 we went to F-Troop and put in a good mornings work hanging the birdcage in a tree at the 6th tee, mulching a garden at the 18th and putting up a vertical garden at the 1st Tee.

Tuesday 1st July 2014 I played golf with Kay Frewin & Fran James.  Our golf was not great but we had a good fun day. In the afternoon I culled some gazania flowers from my garden at home to use at the 13th garden at the golf club.

Wednesday 2nd July 2014 I spent the morning at the golf club 13th garden planting the gazanias and setting the wheelbarrow in place.

Thursday 3rd July 2014 I was back at the 13th garden watering and fertilizing the garden.

Friday 4th July 2014 I went with Anne to Erina Fair getting some odds and ends and then looked after Joel and Emily in the afternoon while Anne went to the Doctors for a checkup with Grace. I took Joel and Emily to the railway for their icecrem treat.  That evening we went to the Golf Club for dinner and the raffles.  We had a better week winning a leg of lamb and I also received my Hole in One Trophy which was a great highlight.

Saturday 5th July 2014 I was back at the garden at the 13th painting the seat and the cup and saucer in the garden as well as doing some weeding at the dam edge.  Graham had a game of golf with Peter & I managed to get a photo of them on their way around.

Sunday 6th July 2014 Shane & Danielle came for a lazy breakfast and a catch up prior to us going to golf.  Our playing partners were Kevin O'Btien & Lorraine Bignall who were good company.  We beat the boys for the keno ticket which was my highlight. That evening we went to the Gosford Hotel for dinner with some of our friends from the golf club.

Monday 7th July 2014 I was up extra early to cull some more gazanias to take over to the gardens & then we were at F-Troop early having a lot of jobs to do.  I added some mulch and fertilizer to the 13th garden.  After F-Troop we went to Mark & Anne's for lunch with Di & Ron.  The view over Brisbane Water on a lovely sunny day was beautiful.

Tuesday 8th July 2014 I played golf with Rhonda Robertson & Kay Baillie on a beautiful sunny day. Rhonda & Kay had to leave early so I finished my match by joining up with Lyn Bates and Anne Forrester. I enjoyed the day and had an improved golf score which was a highlight.

Wednesday 9th July 2014 I worked over at the 13th garden weeding around the edge of the dam and then watered gardens at the front of the club and the 1st tee.  In the afternoon I had a well deserved nanny nap.

Thursday 10th July 2014 we went over to the golf club to get some jobs done.  We hung some photos inside the clubhouse and then delivered some F-Troop firewood to a home at Wamberal.  In the afternoon I pruned some more roses until it got to be too cold to be outside.

I have a lot more roses to prune so I will be busy this coming week with that.
